Hi I am trying to rent a car from September 30th to October 4th I am going to pick it up on September 30th at 7 am and return it on October 4th 7 pm. I tried PRICELINE bidding option for a Minivan for $40.00 but I did not get it. So the next day I tired $50.00 and it did not go. So I tried a standard suv for $50.00 and it did no go. So I also tired a premium car for $45.00 that did not go either. I am trying to figure out what to offer for either a minivan, suv, or premium car.

I also have another question I see that PRICELINE tells me that the winning bid for van 5 days ago for DTW is $50.00 per day. So can I bid $50.00 for a van and win the bid ?

Not necessarily... just like hotel rates, car rental rates are date specific based upon the number of cars (and class of car) in their fleet and the number of reservations they have on the books.

Minivans are often considered 'specialty' and have a much higher price tag then economy/compact type cars... given that you're also bidding on a premium car, do you actually need a minivan? How many people do you need to transport at any given time? What is the best rate (both daily and all-in including taxes and fees) you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?

well I don't need the van but I choose it for the space but I was planing on not spending over $55.00 max. Actually I ended up buying my airline ticket with PRICELINE and got a Premium car from Budget rent a car via PRICELINE for $53.99 since I got my ticket there and I took it since I thought I could not beat it.
