frnkrizzo Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Been trying to get a 4* in MTE, MTW, CPS or TS for August 3-4, 2010.I have bid up to $185 with no luck.Any suggestions ?What do you think about going down to 3.5* ?Bob
thereuare Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Is the ESB zone acceptable as well?If you decide to drop to the 3.5* level is the Hudson Hotel (very small rooms) and/or Millenium UN (about a 15 minute walk to the subway) acceptable? Would you also want to add MSG to your bidding? What is the purpose of this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! frnkrizzo Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 Since I wrote this, I have been doing a little research on 3.5* hotels, and the Hudson just does not sound good in the reviews. Also, we do take the subway, so I would rather not be 15 minutes away. That being said, I guess I am stuck at the 4* level...I suppose I could add in the ESB zone.Purpose of the stay is for my wife to shop, and me to be the guide to all the stores she likes...What's weird, is I have seen a win for that day in MTW at the Sheraton for $150...Do I wait, or do I increase my highest price to $200 or so ?The flight is booked, so....
thereuare Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 That being said, I guess I am stuck at the 4* level...Not necessarily... you could always bid the 3.5* level for the MTW, TS, ESB and/or MSG zones. What's weird, is I have seen a win for that day in MTW at the Sheraton for $150...The $185 priceline win was made back in April, likely when rates were lower... demand (and therefore rates) have probably upticked since then and it now requires a higher bid.Do I wait, or do I increase my highest price to $200 or so ?There is no telling if rates will continue to move even higher from here or come back down in the few weeks ahead. Are you able to find any reservations at an acceptable hotel for ~$225 which are fully refundable... you could then use that as a back-up while you continue to try PRICELINE in the days ahead. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
