jechow Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 There appears to be ample 3* hotels in the Llyod Center area going for about $50 per night during August. I think this is a great deal but I worried about the streetcar construction and the corresponding gridlock. Does anyone know or experienced commuting problems around this area?BTW, I planning to see the Oregan Zoo, Kids museum and Woodburn Outlet. All of these sites would require crossing a bridge relative to a Lloyd Center hotel. Thanks
thereuare Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'd give a few hotels in the zone a call and ask if/how the construction is effecting things (both at the hotel you're calling as well as to your destination). Are you considering canceling this trip if the construction/traffic is an issue or are there other zones which would still be convenient for your plans and take you a different route to the locations on your itinerary? QuackAttack Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 I happen to work in the district and can tell you that the streetcar construction is only having a minimal impact on traffic. The only backups are happening on the north/south major arterials (NE Grand & NE MLK) and those are only happening Monday-Friday during work hours (8am-4pm). However, the Broadway Bridge is closed for the next couple of months for repair work but there are still a number of other nearby bridges you can utilize to get to the westside. Far from any gridlock.Enjoy your visit.
