Quaranteneuf
Consider New Jersey when options are not available or too expensive in NYC / Manhattan. Cost is less than half for Manhattan hotels. If you book in Secaucus Meadowlands there is an accessible 20 minute bus ride to port authority, 8th avenue and 42nd. Newark Airport hotels also include the Hilton on Raymond Avenue, just across from the PATH train to Manhattan, which is faster to 34th and 6th than staying in many of the hotels in Manhattan. We have even stayed in New Brunswick, on a Friday or Saturday night, and then drive in in the morning--about 30-40 minutes.Travel time into the city is never more than 30 minutes to an hour, if you avoid the rush hours.ALL of the hotels were HOTWIRE, never more than $85/night.Try parking in the garages on 43rd street between 10th and 11th, not usually more than $17 a day. TKTS ticket jackets have good deals for the Hippodrome and other garages--$12 to 15 if out by 2 am, on the weekends, enter any time. Link to comment
thereuare
A good post... but i'll also add that the Jersey City area is likely superior for NYC commuting than any of the above. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
