philgods Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Hi. First post.I've spent a while researching and have decided on any of the 4* hotels in Times Square-Theatre District.Dates are 10/28/10-11/1/10.Last year at the same time there were some successful bids between $122-$175. Is this too optimistic for this year? Thanks
STLman Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 I've been bidding for the same particular dates as yours for about a week now with no luck...my bids have ranged from $125-$200. I increased my zones per this sites request and decided to include 3* and 3.5* ($160 has been my max bid on those particular bids). I am not sure how last year's results play into this years so if someone has some advice on this I'd like to listen too.STLman
thereuare Posted July 9, 2010 Report Posted July 9, 2010 Last year at the same time there were some successful bids between $122-$175. Is this too optimistic for this year?I would think a 4* hotel in this price range would be optimistic this year, but you could always try. However, i'll add that if you're looking for the best deal i think you're likely being too restrictive by only bidding the Times Square zone as it only gives a handful of hotels the ability to accept your bid. NYC is so compact that at the 4* level most of the midtown zones work fine for the average visitor (at the 3.5* level there may be some zones you may wish to avoid). If there is a particular 4* hotel in a given zone that you're trying to avoid i think it does make sense to avoid that zone, but not sure if this is the case for why you're only seeking the Times Square area.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. philgods Posted July 9, 2010 Author Report Posted July 9, 2010 UPDATE:No luck up to $210 so far and have used all 6 re-bids for the day. Time for a re-think. :)
AaronJB Posted July 10, 2010 Report Posted July 10, 2010 Sorry to hear that your bids were not accepted. How would you like to proceed from here (lower star rating, different zones, raise bid, etc?)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
