Welldone Rumproast Posted June 6, 2003 Report Posted June 6, 2003 I began bidding at $29; subsequent free re-bids at $31 and $35 were rejected until the successful bid at $36.Details:Kansas City Airport Hilton Kansas City Airport (MCI)8801 Nw 112th Street Kansas City, Missouri 64153 Your Offer Price: $36.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $36.00 Taxes andService Fees: $10.62 Total Charges: $46.62 The only bad thing here is that HiltonHHonors policy (unlike Starwood and Hyatt) is to NOT give points/credits for $$ spent on meals or other incidental charges :)I will still try asking the agent to enter my number at check-in time (nothing ventured, etc).
Welldone Rumproast Posted June 7, 2003 Author Report Posted June 7, 2003 PS - Thanks :) for fixing the title line - I was trying to figure out how best to explain the PL-inititated upgrade from 2.5* to 3*The potential for upgrades is something we always need to keep in mind. My research here and over on TOBB (what I call the SARS-board :) ) led me to hope that I might get one of the two 2.5* all-suite properties (which with included breakfast would have been a better value). I was aware that others had also received the upgrade, so I took that into account as I proceeded with the bid (another factor is that a larger hotel like the Hilton might have more inventory to place into the PL availability bucket).
thereuare Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 PS - Thanks :) for fixing the title line - I was trying to figure out how best to explain the PL-inititated upgrade from 2.5* to 3* No problem... i'm on the job! That's one of the benefits of Hotwire, no risk of upgrade.Along similar lines... I'm currently debating what to do for a hotel stay in August. The hotel i want in the area via Priceline hasn't opened availability yet, and i know raising my bid at this point will likely result in the 'next' hotel in the list, which i'd be happy with, but would prefer the other. I just looked at Hotwire and a new hotel has appeared in the rotaion(which i suspect is the Embassy Suites) which i've never stayed at but have read great reviews about the chain. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
