electrogeek77 Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Hello!I'm planning on visiting NYC for the International Make-Up Artist Trade Show(IMATS) in April 2011. I thought that this might be a good time to try Priceline out. And like any other newbie, I am completely stumped and worried about overbidding. I was hoping that some of you out there might have some approximates on what to bid according to my needs. Here is my information: - Dates of stay: Friday, April 8, 2011 - Sunday, April 10, 2011. - I would like to go with a 3-star property, if possible. If necessary, I am willing to go down to a 2.5. - The show is at 82 Mercer in SoHo. Staying in SoHo is by no means a requirement, though. - No airport properties, since I'll be arriving into the city by bus. Otherwise, I'm fairly flexible with location. - There will be three of us splitting the cost.If any more information is needed, please let me know! Thank you so much for your help!
thereuare Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The 'problem' that you'll have is that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy... you'll be triple occupancy. While it may be worth the risk in many areas, in NYC this is considered risky since rooms are notoriously small and there are such a high percentage of rooms which only contain one bed (and little or no room for a rollaway)HOTWIRE can still be an option though as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy. What is your budget (per person per nite before taxes and fees) for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! electrogeek77 Posted July 8, 2010 Author Report Posted July 8, 2010 Oooh, I wasn't aware of that. I'm definitely not going to risk it. Thanks for the information!

electrogeek77 Posted July 9, 2010 Author Report Posted July 9, 2010 I did find quite a few. I'm mulling over a Midtown Central 3* for $182/night and a Midtown East 3 1/2* for $209/night, plus they gave an offer from Hotels.com for a room at Club Quarters WTC for $209/night. I might make a topic about it in the HOTWIRE section.

electrogeek77 Posted July 9, 2010 Author Report Posted July 9, 2010 Thanks for the heads-up! I guess I just assumed that I would have to keep HOTWIRE discussions in that section.
