jmoosman Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 How long had you been trying for the car? We just booked a trip to Maui for next week and I've been trying every day and have bid up to $20 (for compact even) and have only been rejected. I'm willing to keep bidding everyday, but am wondering how long it took you to get your car at such a good price.
thereuare Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Rates are dates specific, so it's not relevant how long the OP has been trying for... it's having bid high enough that a rental company accepted the bid.If you'd like help with your own rental please start a NEW TOPIC and include the date(s) of you need. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Dharmabum Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 I'll bet it's because you are trying to bid for a rental period of less than a week? That's what I've been trying to do for 3 weeks at OGG and have been rejected every day.Seems to be (from what I've seen) rentals are cheaper for a 7 day period than 5. Oh, well. I have a backup rental at Enterprise for $155. A couple weeks ago I was at $234 with Budget, so I already feel like I have a pretty good deal if Priceline keeps denying me.
ChrisB Posted July 28, 2010 Author Report Posted July 28, 2010 Sorry for the late reply. I have found that rental cars are far pickier than hotels. For various rental cars, I have bid up to $18 per day and been rejected. I tried to be patient and found that normally I can get an accepted offer for less than many of my rejected offers. I have accepted offers for $12 compact and up to $14 standard. It looks like if you are just a few days before the rental period, some people have accpeted offers for < $10.
