Priceline Hotel: why no post for st pete/clearwater beach fl

Hello!

I'm noticing no bids being posted for st pete or clearwater beach fl. Not a lot of bids for atlantic coast side either. I'm hearing the oil has not reached this area yet. Are bidders simply being cautious? Do you know if Priceline is doing anything to offer refunds because of the oil spill or collecting everything in full and no refunds as usual.

Thanks,Maurice

I have called HOTWIRE twice and have successful been given a chance to rebid both times...I have called PRICELINE twice and they said they never give refunds (I'm sure they do, I wasn't lucky) On one of the calls I offered to double bid for a star increase and was told they no.

It's an interesting time as the forth was a Sunday, some people were given today off from work while others weren't.

I'm here in Downtown St Pete, not St Pete Beach right now on a winning bid. Appears the lowest you can get a three star on the Beach would be a $60 bid. On every listed property, they have a $25/day resort fee so with tax you're at $100/night. I won the 3.5 star hilton bayfront for $45/night.

There have been a few St Petersburg postings and a few recent Sarasota postings. Not sure about the current status of the oil in this area.

Priceline did put out this PR (http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/chicagos-millennium-park-is-1-on-priceline-list-of-top-destinations-for-july-4th-2010-97300009.html)

"NORWALK, Conn., June 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Priceline.com today released its annual survey of the 50 most-popular destinations for the upcoming Independence Day weekend. This year, Chicago's Millennium Park replaces last year's winner, New Orleans, as the most popular July 4th destination among Priceline customers.

The survey is based on more than 30,000 hotel room booking requests made by customers using priceline.com's Name Your Own Price

Hi there,

I didn't want to start a new post, but I have the same question about saint pete beach...currently thinking of booking there for January, has this area been affected by the oil spill? I tried researching on the net but couldn't find any current info.

Also, on Priceline the area I'd like to bid on is #10 (from pass-a-grille to Treasure Island), can anyone give me any tips/successful bids? I'm a first time user to this board, hope this post is okay. Cheers!
