AaronJB Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 Likely the Holiday Inn Midtown. Along those lines, I'd rather suggest the new-ish Candlewood Suites Times Square for $161 via Orbitz.com.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or Orbitz or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
tpuppie Posted July 4, 2010 Author Report Posted July 4, 2010 Ok. Google helped me do a better search of this board. I think this might be Holiday Inn Midtown on 57th?Question: When I entered 1 adult/3 kids I got the $179 price. Experimenting, I went back and entered 4 adults and got same property but $199. Is it necessary to do 4 adults to guarantee two beds, or would I be safe with 1 adult/3 kids? Thanks!
tpuppie Posted July 4, 2010 Author Report Posted July 4, 2010 Thanks Aaron! I didn't see your response when I wrote mine. I will check out the Candlewood deal. Looks great!
tpuppie Posted July 4, 2010 Author Report Posted July 4, 2010 Oops. That won't work. No pull out couch so not enough room for 4 with only 1 bed there.

tpuppie Posted July 4, 2010 Author Report Posted July 4, 2010 1 adult, 4 kids (10,8,6,4...youngest is fine in a sleeping bag on the floor)PRICELINE might be an option since I have a relative in Manhattan with a pull-out couch. If we end up with 1 king in a room, I can probably send the 10 and 8 year old to sleep at his place.[i tried to use the search function here to search for 3* MTC to identify that property, but it seemed to not like the 3 and the *. That's why I went to google next, where it pulled a thread right up that showed me which property it was. I always search for actuallly deals and make purchases through the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links here though.]
thereuare Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 If we end up with 1 king in a room...Keep in mind that even a King bedded room in NYC is not a 'sure thing'... many hotel rooms only offer one queen bedded room.NYC for more than double occupancy is more risk then i recommend taking, but it's up to you however you'd like to play it.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tpuppie Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 Yeah, we'll see. If my cousin is fine taking any "spillovers" in the event of getting just a queen, I might go for it. I can share the queen with one kid and the other would be happy on the floor in a sleeping bag. I'm going to email him today and then perhaps bid. I'll use the PRICELINE links.
thereuare Posted July 8, 2010 Report Posted July 8, 2010 Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of help with a bidding strategy. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your bidding. tpuppie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Report Posted July 31, 2010 Not sure what is going on with this thread. I thought I was starting a new topic about 2 Chelsea-MSG hotels. Looked normal last night but this morning that old thread appears attached to it.
AaronJB Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 I'm guessing it was merged because it was thought to be a continued discussion of the same trip.
AaronJB Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 My guess for the 2* would be the Best Western, while the 3* is a tough one, as there's only one icon to go on, and no properties have been reported with only internet (the 55% approval rating by HOTWIREcustomers is also rather low for the 3*) Let me look around and see if I can find anything else - do you need to be in this particular area?Edited to add: I'm seeing a number of nice deals on GTA Hotels.com, such as the Sheraton for $220 and a few others in the $170-220 range. Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or GTA Hotels.com links to start your purchases and searches.
tpuppie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Report Posted July 31, 2010 Thank you. Yes, it occurred to me after I posted that maybe the threads were merged since it was the same trip. Kind of got thrown since the amenities in the first post aren't the ones for the Chelsea hotels. We started our vacation and I've been away from a computer so I never pulled the trigger on the other things I investigated.I'm going to look at the Sheraton, etc. now. Thanks for the tip.
tpuppie Posted August 2, 2010 Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 Booked the Sheraton for $220 at GTA Hotels using the link here. Thanks, Aaron!
