iberg Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Can you help identify the following for 8/25/10?3* ($109) Fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, internet 3 1/2 * on TripAdvisor2 1/2 * ($102) Airport shuffle, breakfast, fitness center, business center, laundry, internet 3 1/2 * on Trip AdvisorI'm thinking the 3* may be the Hyatt Place and the 2 1/2 * may be the Holiday Inn, but need confirmation.Love the site. Thanks for any help.
iberg Posted July 2, 2010 Author Report Posted July 2, 2010 Any advice on bidding for Boston (Medford-Somerville) for 8/25/10?I see that a 3* and 2 1/2* are available.Based on prior experience and reviews, I'd be very happy at either Hyatt Place (Medford) or Holiday Inn (Somerville), but not happy at La Quinta.Thank you for any help.
thereuare Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. When you bid on PRICELINE you have to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you select. Given you're not willing to accept the La Quinta Somerville, which as per THIS LINK is currently 2.5* rated by PRICELINE, you would need to only bid 3* or higher in this zone.Given the above do you want to first try bidding for a 3* hotel in this zone? What is most important to you for this stay, the lowest price or having a guess as to the property you may likely receive? If bidding on PRICELINE what is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. iberg Posted July 3, 2010 Author Report Posted July 3, 2010 Thanks for the advice. To answer your questions: If I can be sure that the 3* on PRICELINE is either the Holiday Inn Somerville or the Hyatt Place Medford (which appears to be the case), I'd be satisfied with either. Given that it looks like one of these properties is available for $109 on HOTWIRE, my maximum highest PRICELINE bid would be about $80.Given all of this, what would you recommend? Thanks again. Your site is great.
thereuare Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 If I can be sure that the 3* on PRICELINE is either the Holiday Inn Somerville or the Hyatt Place Medford...I don't know this area well enough to make this claim, and even if i did, i'd never use the word "for sure" as there is no way to know the hotel you will get when using PRICELINE... a new hotel could always have been added to the zone which we don't yet know about and/or a previously reported hotel in the zone could have been upgraded/downgraded. You have to decide if the savings are worth the risk based upon your needs for this stay.Do you need one of these two hotels for this stay or is it more of a want?? How would it effect your plans if you received some other property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. iberg Posted July 3, 2010 Author Report Posted July 3, 2010 Thanks for the quick response.I would say that we would be ok with another 3* property but would strongly prefer the Hyatt Place or Holiday Inn.Are you able to identify the Hotwire properties for 8/25 or 8/26?Appreciate the help.
thereuare Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 The HOTWIRE properties have not yet been reported to the board, but as the Hyatt Place does not have a Restaurant, that is not likely the 3* hotel offered above... although the Holiday Inn would remain a good possibility for this property. At the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3* Medford-Somerville...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $70, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Medford-Somerville and re-bid zone2...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. iberg Posted July 7, 2010 Author Report Posted July 7, 2010 One more question. (I apologize if you answer this elsewhere.)We need 2 rooms for that night. Does it make sense to bid on one to see how that goes and then, assuming I'm successful, bid on the second? Or bid on both at the same time for a better rate?Thank you.
yellowdog Posted July 7, 2010 Report Posted July 7, 2010 ibergThe hotel you hit maybe only got one room left at PRICELINE. So that means that you will get a diffrent hotel on your second try. I would bid for two rooms at the same time.Good luck! Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
