Edel V Posted July 2, 2010 Author Report Posted July 2, 2010 Just booked and got the Flamingo, was sure it would be Bally's but am happy enough with the Flamingo. Thanks for all your help.
yellowdog Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 Thank you for sharing your result with the board! That hotel was new for me also! Sorry if you had your mind on Bally's. This is the first time we see this on HOTWIRE. Thanx for the addition for this new property to the BetterBidding Hotwire Hotel list Enjoy your stay. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start future purchases.Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 The Flamingo has been reported to the board before, but it was classified in the North Strip zone. If you look at the current map, you'll see that the Flamingo Rd separates the Strip North and Strip South zones... but there is a little 'cut out' which places the Flamingo in the South Strip zone (you have to zoom in all the way on the zone to see this). Not sure if this is how the zone was originally drawn or if was recently changed. On a positive note your kids will LOVE the pool at the Flamingo... as well, they have live flamingos and penguins on the grounds too!Enjoy your stay. Edel V Posted July 5, 2010 Author Report Posted July 5, 2010 I have booked a room in the Flamingo for our upcoming trip to Las Vegas with Hotwire. Is there any possiblity of us being put in one of their GO rooms or are we more likely to be put in a standard room ? If it is a standard room what are my chances of getting a free upgrade using the $20 sandwich trick. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
AaronJB Posted July 5, 2010 Report Posted July 5, 2010 HOTWIRE and PRICELINE reservations are for standard rooms, although there are the occasional instances where people have been upgraded. Still, I recommend going in with the expectation of a regular room. If you are looking for an upgrade, I would recommend calling and asking what kind of room you have been booked into. If they say a regular room, then politely (because who you talk to may depend on if you are successful) ask about the availability of upgrades. They could either say no (and if so then you can try at check-in) or may try to "upsell" you to a higher level room. You could ask what you would get if you paid $x (say, $20 more) and see what they say. Many have tried the $20 trick, but for a sure thing, you could try to call and negotiate.
