gg1234 Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Hi all, I have been perusing the board for a few weeks whilst looking up my trip on Hotwire and the prices are extremely high for this long weekend stay- im guessing it is very popular time to be in NYC, do you think the prices are likely to fall the closer we get to the trip or do you think they will be pretty much stable?I am reluctant to book as it is really pushing our budget over the max so was hoping waiting a week or two may help Thanks, Gemma
AaronJB Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)September/October is generally a pretty busy time in NYC (and then Nov/Dec are generally even busier due to holidays); while prices may fluctuate depending on traffic, there's no way to know for sure which direction. If something is going on on these particular dates (convention, event, etc.) prices could move higher. What would be your desired budget per night and which star rating/areas would you be interested in bidding for? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
gg1234 Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 Hello Aaron, thank you for your reply, i did think it may just stay the same/go up and not necessarily lower in price. our budget was hopefully around
thereuare Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Which zone(s) are you willing to accept? If you look at the PRICELINE zones, at the 4* level are MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, and ESB all acceptable? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

thereuare Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Of the zone(s) you've listed, only: CPS, ESB, HK, MTE, MTW and TS have 4* properties.Given your comment regarding Times Square, do you want to include that zone in your bidding or not? Should this zone have the lowest price 4* hotel available (not likely, but possible) is 'avoiding' this zone or price more important? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gg1234 Posted July 1, 2010 Author Report Posted July 1, 2010 hello, I would also be happy with Times Square just expected it to be extremely busy and not my ideal but budget is more important for sure. If i was only able to get a 3.5 star but for a much better saving I would not be adverse but 4* would be the 1st choice.Do you think PRICELINE would be a better bet than HOTWIRE for this search then?thank you
thereuare Posted July 2, 2010 Report Posted July 2, 2010 PRICELINE is usually cheaper than HOTWIRE, so if budget is the primary objective, then PRICELINE would likely be a better choice for this stay.At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones.
