Priceline Hotel: Amsterdam Netherlands 4 or 5* hotel 9-12 July

I am looking to book a hotel for 9-12 July in Amsterdam, 3-5* in Amsterdam Centre.

I have looked for previous bids but it seems to be a bit quiet on the boards.

Any bidding strategies?

Budget is about $120-$150 a night

Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 4* (or 3*... your topic title differs from the body of your message) or better for this stay?

While bidding on a 3* would help the rest of us by giving us some data it would be a big risk for you.

There is virtually no traffic as far as 3* bidding for AMS. No data. No idea of prices. No idea of hotels or location.

Month in and month out 4* is more predictable. We pretty much know the hotels. With some luck we pretty much know the $$ range for a win.

And while 5* can be a great deal there is also less data to go on and a wider range of hotels and locations you might win.

Since your topic title indicates a 4* minimum and your first post mentions a 3* minimum, what is the minimum threshold you're willing to bid?

I just won a hotel bid for 4* in Amsterdam Centre at $75USD/night (my first bid was accepted at PRICELINE). It's for 7 nights: July 7-14.

I got the NH Carlton Amsterdam hotel, which is centrally located and looks great. Looking forward to going!
