chrsp Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 I'm looking for a hotel in NYC on the weekend October 8-10th, normally I've been able to find deals on 3*+ properties for around USD 150+tax, however at this time prices are almost doubled. I see this is Columbus Day weekend, is this the reason for the sharp increase?Do you reckon there's still a chance to get a decent deal at these dates? Thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 September/October become busy again in NYC and the November/December period becomes even pricier due to holiday-related traffic. Is your desired budget per night $150 "all-in" (w/taxes/fees) or $150 + taxes/fees? Additionally, which areas are you interested in bidding for?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
chrsp Posted June 30, 2010 Author Report Posted June 30, 2010 Thanks for your reply AronJB, I would be looking at 150+taxes/fees, preferably 3,5*+.Areas are MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB & Chelsea any of these areas would be fine.Of course all bids are made through this site's PRICELINE link. (Not sure how to add it to my post though?)
thereuare Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Thanks for your reply AronJB, I would be looking at 150+taxes/fees, preferably 3,5*+.Areas are MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB & Chelsea any of these areas would be fine. There are currently no 3.5* hotels in Chelsea... did you mean MSG which is a zone frequently included in bidding at the 3.5* level? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. chrsp Posted July 1, 2010 Author Report Posted July 1, 2010 Sorry, Yes MSG was the zone I meant, so to recap the zones are MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB & MSG, the dates are 7/8-10th Oct. and the desired level is 3,5*+...All purchases to be made through the PRICELINE link.Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Two notes before bidding the 3.5* level... look at the Millennium UN in the MTE zone as it's fine for some but a bit too far east for others, confirm that this would be an acceptable outcome should it be the hotel you receive; look at the room size of the Hudson Hotel in the CPS zone which is an issue for some.Assuming these are both acceptable and you want to bid these zones...At the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* MTE and MTW and CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS and ESB and MSG...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE and MTW and CPS and TS and ESB and MSG...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone....Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. chrsp Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 Went through the bidding cycle, no luck...I guess with HOTWIRE prices at the moment of 300+ bids will not be successful until close to arrival date
