teskitoe Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 I have tried bidding as high as $130 for London 3* in the following locations:BloomsburyChelsea-KnightsbridgeHammersmithKensington-Earl's CourtMayfair-SohoNotting Hill-BayswaterRegents Part-Baker StreetThe stay is for today 29th Jun - 1 Jul.Really need a hotel. If anyone can suggest other accomodation options in central london for a $120 ($150 including tax) budget that would really save the day.

teskitoe Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 My required stay is Jun 29 - Jul 3. For now I ended up bidding $160 for 3* and got Marriott London West India Quay 5*. However, I did end up expanding the zones. However, after taxes it ended up being adding 22% to the bill for a total of $196 but I had little other choice.I will now try again for Jun 30 - Jul 3 as a separate bid. Any suggestions on what to bid? I saw this great post: Priceline London Biddingbut those bids didn't work out for me. Basically looking for a 3* or better and a $120 or less. Going to wait a half hour or so for responses then give it a shot anyway starting at $110. Suggestions?
thereuare Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Please start a NEW TOPIC for the balance of this stay, but since your short on time, i'll give my initial comments here...Rates are date specific... and unfortunately for you rates for your dates are high (and you have little time on your hands to try lowball bids) Before bidding again, you need to find your best deal should your PRICELINE bids fail, as this will give you a realistic maximum bid to use.HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel in the Docklands zone for $166/nite, a 3.5* in the Ealing-Hammersmith zone for $115/nite, assorted hotels in the airport zones ~$100/nite... and everything else is $200+. Unless you're bidding the Hammersmith, Docklands or Airport zones i don't see much use in bidding $110. You need to make a decision between convenience (your original zones) and price. Please continue and further discussion for the remaining nites of this stay in a NEW TOPIC.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
