djdange01 Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 I must say, this site is totally awesome, thanks. I've been researching prices for about a month now. Today I tried my first bid on priceline, 4* Philadelphia Downtown, for $70. It was accepted, and out the door its under $170 for the whole weekend. Thanks for helping me save well over $100. I just wish I started a little lower on my opening bid. Thanks again. Oh and btw, I used your PRICELINE link.
AaronJB Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Congrats on your success and Welcome to Betterbidding. :)First-rate deal for this 4* Philly property! Glad you are pleased with the result.Thank you for letting us know the results of your win and for using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
nchristo Posted July 12, 2010 Report Posted July 12, 2010 In case it makes you feel any better, I saw your post and tried 60 and a buddy tried 65 and we both were denied for 4 star in downtown philly. Going to try 70 tomorrow unless anyone can help out with a bidding strategy. I am only looking for Saturday night (8/7) though. Also, I just realized that the price for Friday is lower so you probably got accepted at 70 bc you took both days. Since I am looking for only Saturday and the price is about 20 bucks more, they might be looking for a little bit higher of a price. I think well start with 70 and then go to 75. Will keep everyone updated.

DebitNM Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I got same hotel on hotwire for $89 for 8/5 to 8/9 one month ago. Obviously, it paid to book later. Lucky you! :)
thereuare Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Obviously, it paid to book later. Not necessarily... these dates aren't exactly the same as your own... your dates also include 8/5 and 8/9, perhaps these dates were more expensive than 8/6/ and 8/8, driving up the average nightly rate for your 4 nite stay. For example, what if rates were:8/5 - $1508/6 - $1008/7 - $1008/8 - $150For somebody bidding 8/6 and 8/7 the average nightly rate is $100, whereas somebody bidding 8/5-8/9 the average nightly rated is $125 :)As well, this thread was just 'bumped' with the most recent reply, but the purchase was actually made on 6/20, not that much of a difference from your own purchase on 6/8.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
