new to bidding on priceline.

How do I increase my chances in booking DoubleTree Metropolitan in MTE? I see there's only a handful of 3.5* in the area from the priceline hotel List topic.

what bid should I start at?

aug 27- aug 30

I just read the rules and I forgot to add that my max budget is 140. Aug 27 to Aug 30.

I'm ok with any of the 3.5* in MTE listed really, however doubletree is ideal since I've been there before. Someone posted earlier and got it for 91. Should I start there?

That $91 win was for a solo Sunday nite, typically the slowest nite of the week in the hotel business, so i'm doubtful you'll be successful that low... but i'll be happy to start there and hopefully you can prove me wrong.

At the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

oops, I think I messed up my bidding (for today). Slightly confused how this works.

My circumstances have changed and I'll be happy for any 4* or 3.5* in CPS, MTW, MTE, TS.

So I started with the best scenario

100 bid + 10 bonus cash, 4*, MTE

100 bid + 10 bonus cash, 4*, MTE, MTW

100 bid + 10 bonus cash, 4*, MTE, MTW, TS

100 bid + 10 bonus cash, 4*, MTE, MTW, TS, CPS

now I have 4 zones checked and grayed out, 4* checked and grayed out.

Do I have to wait until tomorrow to bid again? I should've stuck with the strategy you listed!

I guess i can continue for the day if do this:

105 bid + 10 bonus cash, 4*, MTE, MTW, TS, CPS + rebid zone1 (does not have a 4*)

110 bid + 10 bonus cash, 4*, MTE, MTW, TS, CPS + rebid zone1 + rebid zone2 (does not have a 4*)

...

is this correct? however because i didn't check which zones do not have a 4* at the beginning, it's quite risky.

also, what does closing the browser do?

You need to check which zones qualify as your re-bid zones before you begin bidding.

Are you able to identifyin your SIX re-bid zones at the 4* level? (feel free to confirm them with the board or ask questions if you're unsure)

What is your maximum bid for a 4* hotel for this stay?

I don't know which zones are my rebid zones because I started bidding already. I'll check it again tomorrow when it resets.

My max bid is 150 (+10 bonus cash for total of 160) for 4* or 3.5* in MTW, MTE, TS or CPS. Dates are now aug 27-aug 31. Whats my bidding strategy if i have both 4* and 3.5* with 4 zones? I'm assuming that should give me more tries.

If the above is rejected and you then want to try for a 3.5* property note that at the 3.5* some hotels (such as the Millennium UN in the MTE zone) are a bit far east which is fine for some but considered inconvenient by others, as well as the CPS zone has the Hudson Hotel which has very small rooms... would each of these be an acceptable outcome? As well, at the 3.5* level the MSG zone comes into play and often has some good deals, would you want to include this zone in your 3.5* bidding as well?

Finally I can bid again.

Lemme double check with you guys (if i did this correctly)

6 rebid zones for 4* as of today: Brooklyn, Chelsea, Coney Island, Long Island, MSG, Upper east side

4 rebid zones for 3.5* as of today: Chelsea, Coney Island, Long Island, Upper east side.

I don't mind MSG either and millennium UN seems quite far but I'm ok with it. Hudson doesn't sound like a winner with the small rooms.

Tried every combination for MTW, TS, MTE up to 130 (140 with bonus cash) and got nothing (30 rebids?).

Ended up getting Club Quarters Midtown for 135 (145 with bonus cash) with the first bid at that price.

Overall happy and now I truly understand the power of the bidding process.

I'll create a separate thread with the results.

Used the bonus cash 135 + 10 = 145.

Did over 30 rebids up to 130 + 10 = 140 but no wins. The first 135 + 10 = 145 bid won.

Overall happy with the location of the hotel. The hotel does say it has smoking rooms which concerns me a bit since I prefer non-smoking. Hopefully they won't stick me in one.
