The Black Streak Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Hi, new to the Forum...Love this place already. Posted info on my stay in Lafayette last week. Need help with this New York City one. Can't seem to find any information.4* Chelsea-MSG, $219, 7/20-23/10, 1 adult, 1 child (15 yrs)Amenities: 90% recommended, Non smoking, Weightlifting, Restaurant, Biz Center, Hi Speed Internet Access, Spa, Parking $55-$60/day (glad I ain't driving)Part of my Father's Day Gift from wife and son. Going to see NYC and the Yankees. A bit sticker shocked :) with hotel rates...but I guess this is The Big Apple, not The Big Easy :) Looking forward to the results.
AaronJB Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 When I search for these dates, I'm seeing a grey listing in this zone at this star rating with these amenities for $237 (the grey listings are full-rate listings from Hotels.com, not a discounted rate from HOTWIRE) for the Ink48. Are you still seeing this listing for $216?There is also an Empire State Building zone 4* on HOTWIRE for $209, but it only shows internet and has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. Please use the site's PRICELINE, HOTWIRE or Orbitz.com links to start your purchases and searches.
The Black Streak Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 AaronJB,Thanks for responding. The rate was $219 and as of this moment, it is still listed.
thereuare Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 I see the Chelsea-MSG property above and agree best guess is the Ink48, which does get great reviews. (although is a little 'out of the way' from being centrally located, imo)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
The Black Streak Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 thereuare,Thanks so much for the response. I am a huge fan of the Kimpton properties...why...because they get it right every time. Anywho, my son and I are traveling to NYC to take in a few Yankees games and tour just a bit. So central accommodations are not as critical as they would be if I were traveling with my wife. Also, i think I will wait to book this as the rates were around the same for the 4th weekend and now I see they've dropped significantly. Tell me your thoughts please.
thereuare Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Also, i think I will wait to book this as the rates were around the same for the 4th weekend and now I see they've dropped significantly.Do you mean they were the same for this weekend as they were for July 4th and rates for July 4th have dropped... or am i interpreting your comment incorrectly? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
The Black Streak Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 Do you mean they were the same for this weekend as they were for July 4th and rates for July 4th have dropped... or am i interpreting your comment incorrectly? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Hey, there,I may have written it a little confusingly. When I started my search for my dates, I also looked into the 4th weekend and noticed the rates hovering around ~$200-~$249. As we've gotten closer to the 4th, I still have been watching the rates, only now they have dropped for the same hotels. Also, what are your thoughts on Central Park hotels and the area?Hope this makes a little more since.
AaronJB Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Rates do vary quite sharply from day-to-day, especially in major cities like NYC; rates are going to be different for the 4th weekend vs. later in the month. There are very few hotels in the Central Park area and, while a nice area, it isn't centrally located and the hotel market in the midtown area provides a much wider array of options and possible deals. If it's hot out - and it certainly could be in NYC in July - being centrally located could certainly be a bit (or more than a bit) of a bonus. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
The Black Streak Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 Aaron JB.Many thanks for chiming in. In understand your perspective and will definitely take that into consideration when I finally pull the string (or push the button). Will do so through this site.
AaronJB Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Happy to help, and thank you for using the PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links. Please let us know what you decide and please do let us know if you have any questions at all. :)
The Black Streak Posted July 6, 2010 Author Report Posted July 6, 2010 Rates now $239.00 for this hotel. Bummer!!
The Black Streak Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 Still haven't booked my NYC trip. Need more help on this one. Dates are the same. 7/20-23/10. Searched 1 adult and 1 child Could this be the Carlton on Madison? 4*, ESB, $205, Restaurant, Business Center, Hi Speed, 75% recommended, Trip Advisor 4/5, Valet Parking $40-$45.If so, I think I just might take this one. Of course I will go through Better Bidding. Thanks much for your help.
The Black Streak Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 Amazing, it's gone and to top it off, I just an email from Hotwire that they have rates of $199 for ESB. Clicked on the link in the email and this rate is nowhere to be found for a 4*
thereuare Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Please use the links on the board, and not in PRICELINE / HOTWIRE emails, to access their respective sites.Thanks. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
The Black Streak Posted July 14, 2010 Author Report Posted July 14, 2010 No worries. It was only for research. What hotel do you think this was?
AaronJB Posted July 15, 2010 Report Posted July 15, 2010 Without being able to see the amenities showing, there would be no way to guess, unfortunately.
The Black Streak Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 Well, to close this out, I booked 70 Park Ave Hotel straight up through the PRICELINE link. Not sure if you will receive credit but I did use the links and it took me to the bidding page. From there, I selected the home page and booked. Rate is $288/night for confirmed double beds. Best regards and thanks for all your help. I will be back.THE BLACK STREAK
