travelling_insomniac Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 We are looking for a 4* hotel in the Paris Opera East quarter for Sept 24-28. I couldn't really find any recent successfull bids in the area. I put in a low bid of $150 to see how the system and interface worked. What is a reasonable price to place my next bid at to have a chance of getting a hotel in this area? TIA
travelling_insomniac Posted June 26, 2010 Author Report Posted June 26, 2010 I thought you had to add an area or change your dates to bid again in the same day but PRICELINE sent me an email to try again. I increased my bid to 160 but still no luck.
thereuare Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Did the email simply state that you could bid again OR did it state that you could bid again if you raised your bid by a specified amount or bid a certain dollar amount? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. travelling_insomniac Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 Thanks thereusare. The email looked like a generic email with bidding tips. It had a link with a "Try Again" link, which brings you back to the bidding page with my dates already set. I simply choose the same area and increased my bid by $10. Shortly after I placed the second bid I got the same email again. I can only assume it is a standard email everyone gets if they fail. The most I am willing to pay for a 4* hotel in this area via priceline would be around $200-220. If I can't get one for that price I would be willing to pay up to $250 using a regular booking service where I know the hotel and amenities ahead of time. I actually would prefer a hotel in the latin quarter but it seems like seems all you can get through priceline in that area is the Marriot which is really well outside the latin quarter.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 PLEASE use the links on the board and not in PRICELINE emails to access their site.Have you also considered the Opera Quarter West zone? We see a LOT more bidding there then in the OQE zone.Let us know if this zone is also acceptable and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
