gigipop Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 I am interested in booking for 2 rooms at Palazzo, Venetian or THEHotel for 9/12-9/15. This is my first time bidding. Thanks in advance for your help.
yellowdog Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding :) You can't bid on/avoid a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. You need to be willing to stay at any 5* in the zone you're bidding at. The best way to secure any of the hotels would be to go with HOTWIRE. If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive. How many guests are in your party? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
gigipop Posted June 26, 2010 Author Report Posted June 26, 2010 Thanks for your reply. We have 4 in our party and are looking for 2 rooms. I'm also ok with bidding for 5* in the zone on priceline. Is the list below correct for current 5*:1. North Strip: Wynn, Palazzo, Venetian2. South Strip: THEhotel
thereuare Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 The Priceline Hotel List is accurate of the the last known reports to the board. Also, keep in mind that the new Aria and Vdara hotels (both 5* rated by HOTWIRE) have not yet been reported to the board via PRICELINE, but have been won often via HOTWIRE, so if these properties are acceptable you may also want to do a HOTWIRE search for your dates to see how much the 5* hotels in the Strip South zone are going for to make sure you don't overbid on PRICELINE.If you want to bid on PRICELINE are both the South and North zones acceptable? What is your maximum bid?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
gigipop Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 Thanks for your reply. Yes, both the South and North zones are acceptable. My maximum bid is $130.Thank you in advance for your suggestion.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 My maximum bid is $130.This is why i had mentioned searching HOTWIRE too... what i'm guessing is the Vdara is available for $93/nite, is this property not one you're interested in? If not, is a 5* hotel thru PRICELINE worth $35 more per nite for this stay?Let us know if the HOTWIRE property above is of interest so that we know if we should lower your maximum PRICELINE bid or not.
Vrada is not on my list of hotels. I checked out HOTWIRE, and don't see any 5* being offered in the North Strip.Do you recommend waiting until later for deals?
thereuare Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 If you want to try bidding on PRICELINE you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.I would bid as follows:Select 5* North Strip and South Strip...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
