I appreciate any help,Kevin
thereuare Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! How much would you need to save (per ticket) to make an opaque purchase worthwhile? Thanks for using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
kevin354 Posted June 25, 2010 Author Report Posted June 25, 2010 Hmm, probably about $300 per ticket.
thereuare Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Savings on airfare can be tough, but to give it a try...You can get an almost unlimited number of re-bids by using the technique in the second post if this Priceline Airfare Re-bidding thread.Since you won't get any discount on the taxes/fees portion of the ticket i'd start with a $450 bid (50% discount to the base fare) and then increase $10-25 per re-bid... lowering the re-bid increments from $25 to $10 as you get closer to your maximum bid of $550.Any questions feel free to ask. Thanks for using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Good luck and let us know how it goes. kevin354 Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 I tried the Free Re-bid strategy (and clicked on the PRICELINE link).Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find any "close" airports that Priceline will recognize, so I can switch over to SAN or NAP on the second page. I tried TIJ, SNA, ONT, LAX, etc. Any suggestions?
yellowdog Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 kevin354How high did you bid?Thanx for using boards PRICELINE link :) Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 You don't need to find close airport... just city/town names :)Begin your search using the city/town name and not the airport code. kevin354 Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 Ok, thanks. I tried with the city names instead of airport codes, and that worked much better for the free re-bids.Unfortunately, I bid up to my maximum ($1400 total) and was not accepted.Just a thought, maybe my bids would never be accepted, as my flights seem to have 2 connections and priceline's max is 1?
thereuare Posted June 30, 2010 Report Posted June 30, 2010 Usually if PRICELINE can find you a flight with more than one connection, they'll offer that option to you. (similar to a hotel counter offer) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
