snowflake Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 We are planning a trip to Boston in September. We plan to go to Fenway and do the usual touristy stuff. We are coming in by car and want to stay somewhere on the T. Any suggestions which zone would make sense? Tx
donna90 Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 We are planning a trip to Boston in September. We plan to go to Fenway and do the usual touristy stuff. We are coming in by car and want to stay somewhere on the T. Any suggestions which zone would make sense? Tx Hi TxBoston is a really walkable city. When I stay in town I usually bid on 3.5 star in the theatre district and end up winning the Radison on Priceline for @$100. It is clean and decent and close to Boston Common. The areas you want to stay in are the Quincy Market/Fanuel Hall area, Copley Square/ Theatre District or the Harborfront-Aquarium area. You can walk to all areas from any of these hotels and the T runs through all of them. Fenway is a little ways from these areas but a nice leisurely walk from Fenway down Newbury St offers great people watching, shops and restaurants along the way. You will end up at the garden part of the Boston Common. The Fenway tour is really great and be sure to have a sausage sub while you are there.Donna
geronimo Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 In terms of being in lively area close to major attractions and landmarks, I would recommend either of the following two zones: Quincy Market/Fanuel Hall area or Copley Square/ Theatre District. I bid in these two areas last August and got the Boston Park Plaza Hotel near Arlington MBTA Station, just a minute walk from the Boston Commons/Gardens. It was close to lots of restaurants and shops open from early to late on Boylston Street and Newbury Street.

snowflake Posted June 15, 2010 Author Report Posted June 15, 2010 The dates we need are September 15,16,17. The consensus is Quincy Market/Fanuel Hall area or Copley Square/ Theatre District. We are hoping to get something for $100 (or maybe a little less?).

thereuare Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Sorry... two more questions in order to move forward with a strategy. Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay? Also, are you searching for more than one room? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. snowflake Posted June 15, 2010 Author Report Posted June 15, 2010 Yes, I am willing to pay more, but the distinction between the 3* or better is not that important as I expect we won't be at the hotel very much. Only one room is required.
thereuare Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 So we'll try for a 3.5* first up to your limit, then if that is rejected re-try for a 3* property up to your limit...At the 3.5* level you have FIVE re-bid zones... at the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* Quincy Market and Copley Square...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Quincy Market...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley Square...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Quincy Market...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Copley Square...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $90, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Quincy Market and Copley Square...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. snowflake Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 I am having trouble lining up the PRICELINE Boston Zones to your hotel list. What is PRICELINE's North Cambridge-Arlington zone on your hotel list?
thereuare Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 I don't believe we have seen any hotels reported in this zone, which is why it does not appear in the Priceline Hotel List.Have you tried the bidding strategy above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. snowflake Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 I have, but I could only find 4 re-bid zones for the 3 1/2 star. I went up to $95 and was unsuccessful. I only found 1 re-bid zone for the 3* (Fenway) and was also unsuccessful. Perhaps this additional zone would have been the 5th/2nd, but I was not sure what it was so I didn't want to risk ending up staying there. I'm I maybe too early since the travel is almost three months away?
thereuare Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 I have, but I could only find 4 re-bid zones for the 3 1/2 star. Why not list all the zones in this area here, along with the highest star rating available in each, and we can see/explain where the error is in determining the 5th re-bid zone. (and the 2nd re-bid zone at the 3* level)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
