smeyer_28 Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 I am new to this site and am looking for the best deal on 5* hotel in Vegas for 10/21-10/24. Priceline or Hotwire? At what price do you suggest I start my bidding and which area do I choose if I want a chance at the Venitian?
yellowdog Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding :) If you waana try for Venetian is it the Strip North only zone you should use. But please note that You need to be willing to stay at any 5* in the zone you're bidding at.If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive.Let us know how we can help you further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
smeyer_28 Posted June 23, 2010 Author Report Posted June 23, 2010 Thanks. Do you have a suggestion of a price point to start at?
AaronJB Posted June 24, 2010 Report Posted June 24, 2010 What would be your desired max budget per night? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
smeyer_28 Posted September 12, 2010 Author Report Posted September 12, 2010 Vegas for 3 10/21-10/25I need ONE hotel room for 3 people from 10/21-10/25. Don't want to spend much over $100 per night, and want the best I can get for that price, but need 2 beds! Help.
thereuare Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it is at the discretion of the hotel, which means you could receive a room with only one bed and the hotel may be unable, or unwilling, to accommodate your request for a room with an additional bed (or there could be an extra charge involved)Searching HOTWIRE for triple/quad occupancy ensures sleeping accommodations for everyone in your group, although note that the second 'bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway brought into the room, etc.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. smeyer_28 Posted September 12, 2010 Author Report Posted September 12, 2010 I will procede with my bidding and "hope" for the best with the beds. I really don't want more than 1 room. Again, only want to spend about $100/night, so what do you suggest?
thereuare Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 ... looking for the best deal on 5* hotel in Vegas for 10/21-10/24....only want to spend about $100/night...I don't think your budget is realistic for a 5* hotel. If you want to try are the North Strip and South Strip both acceptable? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. smeyer_28 Posted September 13, 2010 Author Report Posted September 13, 2010 North strip is preferable so what price do you suggest I start at? I want 5* or 4* if necessary.
thereuare Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 North strip is preferable...Does this mean you don't want to include the South Strip at all OR that you'll ultimately take the South Strip zone but prefer the North Strip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. smeyer_28 Posted September 13, 2010 Author Report Posted September 13, 2010 I have events at Wynn and Treasure Island so I want the North Strip to avoid lots of taxi fees and such as I will not have a car.
thereuare Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 At the 5* level you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. smeyer_28 Posted September 20, 2010 Author Report Posted September 20, 2010 Getting frustrated! Have been following the recommended bidding strategy, have been trying other posted winning strategies as well, have been doing this for several days and getting nowhere. Is there a "best time of day" to bid, i.e. 1:30 a.m. or something that I am not privy to? Any other suggestions or just keep at it? P.S. I do not want to split my stay.
AaronJB Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Unfortunately, if splitting your stay is not an option, the only option is to slowly/steadily increase your bids until you reach your max. If you reach your max and the bids are not accepted, you can wait and hope that inventory opens up - it may or may not - or lower your star rating. There is not a "best time" to bid.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
smeyer_28 Posted September 21, 2010 Author Report Posted September 21, 2010 Thanks for the advice, I'll keep trying with my full span of dates. However, if I can't get it to work and eventually decide to split my stay, should I do Thursday - Saturday (3 nights) and then Sunday (1 night), or do you think it would be better to do Thurs/Fri and Sat/Sun?
AaronJB Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 If you do decide to split your stay, Thursday seems quite a bit cheaper; I'd go Thursday, then the other part would be Fri-Sun.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
