You know your plans better than we do, but my guess would be that you're looking to stay in the "Niagara Falls" zone.

If you enter "Niagara Falls Canada" into the search box on the top right of the board, look at the map on the ensuing page... is the Niagara Falls zone where you need/want to bid?

If so, what star level are you seeking and what is your budget?

I usually recommend 'reaching' for the higher rated hotels... while there may be some hotels at the lower star rating(s) which will satisfy your needs, there may be some which do not, and with PRICELINE / HOTWIRE you don't get to choose which type you will get :)

Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 2.5* or higher for this stay? What is your maximum bid?

Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

This is peak season for the area and i'm doubtful that $45-$50 will be enough for a 2.5* or 3* but you have time on your side so we'll suggest a strategy for whatever level you determine... what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels for this nite in the area?

You can also stay in Niagara Falls, NY. There is a close up view of the Ameircan Falls from Luna Island in Goat Island Park (and several attractions) and hotels tend to be cheaper on the US side. If you have a passport, you can walk across the Rainbow Bridge to see the Canadian side (and view the large Horshoe Falls) and use the shuttle buses to see the things along the Niagara Parkway. The spectcular Maid of the Mist boat rides run from either country.
