Does anyone notice that for over 1 month no winning 5* on either board (TOBB) as well. I have tried on several occasions for 1 night stays gone as high as $85 all rejected, all zones, for the next 2 months. Any feedback is greatly apprcieated from you experts... Thanks in advanced..... Sorry Moderartor if this is slightly off-topic.

Thanks for the input so far.I also was checking out SPG.com and found the promo buy4 get 2 free nights , gets the Westin down to 556++ later this year,or for travel in late April 480++6 nights. or SGS 620++ for 6 nights.or with full benefits including HS internet 720++ for 6 nights... All I know is I got 4 different Local agents booked-marked on my notebook, and got 7 FFN planning to use at HYATT Erawan where I have Diaimond Status..All I know, we were all spoiled from the good old days when you could "Steal" these 5* properties, plus you remember the 10 pound bonus LH, how sweet it"WAS" .. GONE UP in SMOKE. The only deal is the JW Marriott Phuket for 65 , just got back after 4 night. I personally don't like location ,but great property....Stayed at Aronoma for 1 night on arrival for 2450 nett with Brkfst. ( Booked through local agent)Not bad,(queit) great location for 1 nite, needed it for the late arrval from states. Left for HKT next day.

Yep - pretty much guaranteed $55 less that GBP 10 bonus for 5* Sukhumvit. Or if you wanted something cheaper... GBP 5 for the Regency Park 3* after the bonus. Those were the days.

I used my FFNs at the new Hyatt Manila - figured out I'll find some cheap place in BKK. Generally I tend to either get a nice 5* or something below 1000 Baht.

As soon as we spoke Maybe the PRLN GODS were listening!!Some one got the SGS around the time of Song-Kran (April13) when hotel bookings in BKK are at a year time low, the few days before, and the days that follow, all business is closed up.So Hotels are begging for business. Try for 2 weeks later at 75 you get Zilch. I went to 80 and got the JW for 1 night on Sunday May 14 101.82nett.. Did get the SGS April 14 1 nite $75, 95.88 nett,, Other than the Song-Kran period at this time, IMHO it takes 80 at the Moment to get 5*(JW) Supply and demand . Now we see how things in this market can change quickly for no given reason.

How was the Hyatt Manila (New one with the casino???)I read some decent things on it on FLYERTALK???

It's fantastic. Just like any new Hyatt I'd say. One of the very best hotels I have stayed at, the room beats the usual BKK 5-stars by a wide margin - modern design with a rainfall shower, DVD-player etc. In a different league compared to the usual old and dumpy MNL hotels. Also, it's in a quite decent area in Malate/Ermita with lots of bars and stuff nearby. Not a nice area like Makati but I never had any problems. Will be returning on a FFN later this month.

Btw, seems like the SGS in BKK comes up every year as we start to get out of high season - I got it last March as well.

Hopefully... I'd really wish to get it for my next stay (may or june, so low season), I am tired of the JW... had only the chance to stay once in the SGS (and once in the Westin)... but now as the JW seems to settle at around 80USD... and the SGS appeared for some 75 bucks, chances might get better to try a bit "only" for the SGS (oder the Westin)

For some of our Westin Grande Sukhumvit lovers, there is an excellent deal called "The Westin Gold Card". I have only seen sales brochure at the Kisso Japanese restaurant but you can request a copy at the front desk. Althought it said for it is by invitation only and must have Thai work permit but they will allow anyone to purchase.

Basically, it is a package that includes 1 free night plus 4 discounted nights deluxe room(for 2800 bahts / VAT included) total 6,500 bahts. Also included are these discount vouchers.

Qty Voucher

1 1 free night w/breakfast buffet for 2

4 1 night deluxe room for 2800 Baht/net

1 Complimentary buffet lunch for 2 at the Med

1 2 Complementary Ajisai Set - Japanese Lunch Set Lunch (excl beverages) at Kisso

1 1 Complimentary afternoon Tea for 2 at Zest Piano Bar

1 Complimentary 2 drinks @ Zest Piano Bar

1 Complimentary 2 drinks @ Horizons Sky Lounge & Karaoke

2 Complimentary Karaoke Room & 25% disc off food and beverage @ Horizons Sky Lounge

6 Westin Gym Complimentary Free Trial (M-F 6:00-17:00 only)

4 3 hours meeting room rental @ the business center

1 5% off for party over 300 persons held in the Ballroom of the WGS

1 25% off on an annual membership @ the Westin Work Out

Also, the card entitles you up to 50% discount on meals at Westin Grande and 25% discount on spa and laundry.

I have used it and upgraded to a corner suite with my SPG platinum status card (although they said status room upgrade was not possible). Although the room discount coupons have a 14 days advance reservation requirement but I was able to use them on the same day I purchased them and used for 5 consecutive days. Even with just the free room and discount room rate, the room cost comes to 3360 bahts per night (net) for 5 nights. This is better than priceline deal in most of cases. Bonus: you can access WiFi at the 7th and 8th floor for free.

The SGS across the street has similiar deal before but now it is not as attractive anymore...

I had the SGS card last year. For non-Thai native, the price was higher (I think 9900 bahts for foreigner vs. 6000 bahts for Thai people). It was well worth the price and it included a free Starwood privilege card (not this year). The Westin Gold Card can be purchased with out Thai citizenship nor a Thai working permit nor a domestic address. I don't think the hotel is aggressively pushing this card. It is likely used to counter similiar card offer by other hotels.
