pennypinchin Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I'm trying to get the best deal on a 4* in NYC in MTE, MTW or UM/CPS. My planned trip dates are 4/07-4/10 OR 5/19-5/22 whichever will be cheapest but I'd prefer 4/7-4/10.I have already bid from $120 all the way up to $160 all in $5 increments for 4/7-4/10 in the zones above by including the free rebid zones and have been declined every time. I don't want to have to bid higher than 170. This bidding strategy allows for rebids but its time consuming.Based on this I started considering moving my vacation to 5/19-5/22 but I'm wondering if I will run into the same issue with pricing. Do you know which of these two date options I could get the best deal on?This will be my wife and I on vacation. We're looking for a nice hotel, hopefully in Manhattan for our first visit to NYC.Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 We're still wondering what happened on your last NYC BIDDING ATTEMPT. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
pennypinchin Posted March 1, 2005 Author Report Posted March 1, 2005 That weekend in December was outrageously expensive. My wife really wanted to stay in NYC so we decided to delay our vacation until the dates above. We're really hoping to find the best deal on one of the dates above. Thank you!
thereuare Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Well please update that thread... a user reading it and wonder what ultimatley happened isn't going to know to look in this thread to know that you changed your plans. thereuare Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I don't see any major differences between the two dates, but if i had to give an edge to one date i would think that the April dates are just a bit easier. If you don't want to take the time to bid, QUICKBOOK has a queen suite at the Beekman Tower for $159/nite for the April dates. It's probably a 3.5* rated hotel rather than a 4*, but the REVIEWS are excellent and it's a cancellable rate. pennypinchin Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 Great tip on the Beekman. I reserved it through the link you provided - thank you! I would still like to try to get a deal on a 4* in NYC by bidding since this reservation is cancellable. Do you think my original bids were too low or do you think I might have a better chance getting a deal the closer it gets to the 4/07-4/10 stay? I appreciate your bidding advice. Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 We have no idea of knowing if rates will go down (or up) between now and your check-in dates.. but i don't think it was an 'access to inventory' issue, but rather that your current bids were too low (which isn't to say that they won't go down between now and then) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
pennypinchin Posted August 13, 2005 Author Report Posted August 13, 2005 I kept the reservation for the Beekman that I made through your link through Quickbook. It was the best value I could find and we enjoyed the Beekman and NYC was great! Thanks!
