Have already attempted one bid (not surprised since bid low) and looking for feedback.Trip Dates: July 17-21Prefer Theatre district (hoping for Radisson - 3*)Trying to avoid Boston Park Plaza (3.5*)Price max $120 (since parking = $34)Bid Last Night - RejectedTheatre District/Copley Square3*$65State fan - please don't hold that against us - son might go to Michigan next year :)
yellowdog Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding. You can't bid/avoid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE. You need to be willing to stay at any ?* or higher in the zone you're bidding at.If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase... the trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, so you need to decide what is most important to you for a given stay, the lowest possible price OR the ability to take an educated guess as to the property you may receive. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how we can help you further.Yellowdog.
WeLoveOurVacations Posted June 22, 2010 Author Report Posted June 22, 2010 In order to better educate myself for the next time I use Priceline (would only be the second time), I would like to know how to change my strategy.I bid 3* copley/theatre districtAccording to the maps on priceline (or so I thought), it appeared the only hotel in this category/location was the RadissonBid starting at $65 - ended up getting at $140 but the Courtyard Treemont streetI'm not really sure this is a great value for the price (although still better than regular price)Do the hotels in the locations change on a regular basis (e.g., based on travel date, bid date)?Should I have started at 4* then gradually worked to 3* if necessary? Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted June 23, 2010 Report Posted June 23, 2010 Thank you for sharing your results with the board. As we don't know the bidding sequence between $65 and $140 it's difficult to comment on how you could have improved your bidding strategy, but for next time i'd suggest consulting the board's hotel list for the given area (looking at the Priceline Boston Hotel List clearly shows more 3* hotels in this zone then just the Radisson) and asking for help with a bidding strategy to follow. Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your future travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
