flipgal Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Hi I just recently found out about this site:) We're currently looking for a 4* hotel with a budget lower than 300$. Could anyone give me tips on how to win a bid on priceline? I'm just afraid we'd end up at 31/2* hotel paying a high price. Thanks
yellowdog Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding :) You can't hit a 3.5* hotel when bidding for a 4* on priceline. The star rating you bid on is the minimum rating you will get.Is this a one or two night stay?Let us know how we can help you further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
flipgal Posted June 18, 2010 Author Report Posted June 18, 2010 We wanted to book for a 4* hotel. Here are further details:Area Atlantic CityJune 19-202days/1nightbudget again is around 300----1st attempt: AC4*2nd attempt: AC with AC West4*3rd attempt: AC with AC West and Vinela at Millville4*----Lowest rate available through their respective sites:Caesar's: 359Taj: 299Harrah's: 339Those above mentioned are without taxes yet.----I tried 240, 245 and then 249 with taxes the room would reach to 302+Are those realistic prices of a room? I've seen Taj for 299. Doing some calculations 15% of it is 254.15 and thus I don't want to bid further than 250. I think I'm doing something wrong.
yellowdog Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 If you have reached your max budgett isn't there much we can do to help you. You're not doing anything wrong. The prices are high since the rooms are in demand for your date and it's not sure that the hotel have any PRICELINE inventory to a discounted price. But take a look at HOTWIRE they have some rooms within your budgett. flipgal Posted February 7, 2011 Author Report Posted February 7, 2011 Sorry for the late reply, we ended up paying, 179.39 for a Sheraton Hotel. It was great hotel, however, we were kinda disappointed of its location.

flipgal Posted February 8, 2011 Author Report Posted February 8, 2011 I used PRICELINE. I forgot the amount of my bid. I'v tried finding the email; I think deleted it including most of the priceline emails that I'v received last year. However, I found in my statement that they'v charged me $179.39 including the taxes.
thereuare Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 I've guestimated the bid price for the topic title, but you may be able to confirm by going to PRICELINE and clicking the MY PROFILE >> MY TRIPS link at the top right corner of their home page. Please remember to follow-up your threads with your results (or decision for that stay) as you receive them so that the information can best help other users in a timely manner. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Hope you enjoyed your stay.
