rainmaker002 Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Hi There,I'm looking for a hotel in the midtown-west or midtown-east area - 4*.Our price range is a maximum of $225 per night, but we're hoping it would be possible to spend less.Any bidding tips?
thereuare Posted June 17, 2010 Report Posted June 17, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! To clarify... are MTE and MTW the only zones you're willing to accept? Times Square, CPS and/or ESB are all not acceptable locations? Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
rainmaker002 Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 I think those are all acceptable.I'm particularly curious as to whether it would be beneficial to wait until closer to travel date, or book out in advance. I've never used PRICELINE before and have used HOTWIRE once (with good success in Chicago).
AaronJB Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 There is no way to know for sure whether or not prices will go up/down closer to your dates. While some are successful in finding cheaper rates closer to their dates, there are plenty of instances where - if something is going on on the dates or demand comes in higher than expected, prices can quickly go higher. It's best to start bidding (and possibly up to a ceiling that can be increased as the dates grow closer) and researching when dates are confirmed. The Fall is generally a busy time in NYC, although rates for these dates don't appear too bad - I would guess that a 4* is possible within either of these zones, although given the time of year and length of stay, it may end up requiring a price towards the high end of your desired budget.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
