Priceline Hotel: New York Late July

I want to stay in NYC July 30-31. I would like to spend up to 100 a night (not including taxes and fees) and be near Radio City Music Hall, which is in rockafella center south of the park. What is a good bidding strategy? Without leaving the island, is there a good area, that still is fun to be in, that might be the best to bid on?

Any suggestions welcomed.
