applegal Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 I'm travelling to NYC from 26th May till 4th June with family. We would like 2 rooms for this period in a 4* hotel and feel that the MTW & MTE are the best zones for sightseeing etc.Our budget is US$100 (exclud. taxes) for each room/night.Is this possible through priceline? I've never used it before.Otherwise do you think its better for me to try and contact the hotel directly and negotiate for better rates?Any advice would be great. Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! How many people do you intend on having in each room? (ie- double occupany or more than that?)Have you already started checking hotel prices, as i think you're going to be hard pressed to find a NYC hotel for under $100 (at least one with a decent star rating).Let us know the above and then we'll make some suggestions. applegal Posted March 1, 2005 Author Report Posted March 1, 2005 There will be 4 persons in our party total.I can get a suite ( 2 Double Beds in One BedRoom + Living Room + Kitchenette ~ US$255 ) for 4 Persons at The Blakely but I was thinking of using priceline to book for 2 Rooms instead. So my budget is max US$120 ~125 for each room but hoping that its possible to get it cheaper? Another thing is that my travel dates have now changed. Staying for 9 nights instead from the 9th June till the 18th of June 2005. Does this make it harder since i think summer is high season period???Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)
thereuare Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 You can try as your dates get closer, but i don't think you'll be successful at the moment based upon current rates... and i would think you will almost certainly have to SPLIT YOUR BID.You could also consider Jersey City (NJ) where the hotels have very easy access into Manhattan... i think you could get a great hotel there for well within your budget. Most likely the Hyatt, where you can read the reviews HERE and HERE. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
