Life_Is_Good Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 Hello, Love the site, it has been a great help in the past and now. I am looking at hotels for June 16-19 in Manhattan, would like to stay in a 3-4* hotel. I am trying to stay near the Omni Hotel as that is where the rest of the family is staying. I have bid 4* up to $170 in MTE, MTW, CPS, ESB, TS with no luck. I have also bid up to $160 for 3.5* in MTW, TS, ESB, MSG with no luck. I am trying to avoid the Roosevelt hotel and the Hudson at this point, as the reviews on both are pretty mixed. How small are the rooms at the Hudson? The rates for hotels these days are really high across the net, any advice on what to do?
AaronJB Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 Good evening. :)NYC rooms are often quite small, although rooms at the Hudson are particularly small. You can see a tour of one of the rooms Please provide your desired max budget per night and we would be happy to offer suggestions on how to proceed.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Life_Is_Good Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 Aaron, Thank you for the link, wow it's smaller than some cruiseship cabins I have stayed in. My max was $150 but that doesn't seem to be even close to what will get excepted. $200 is probably my top, that I would like to spend. Any help is appreciated.
thereuare Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Life_Is_Good Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 $200 a night is my limit for a 3* or higher. I am to the point I will just cancel the trip, if this isn't possible. I just can't see spending $1000 ($300 a night) for 3 nights for this trip. :) Is this going to be impossible?
thereuare Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 To confirm, you have not yet bid at the 3* level, correct? Also, i'll add that yo may be successful for a 4* if you're willing to stay Downtown. If not, i assume all zones you bid at the 3.5* level (MTW, TS, ESB, MSG) are also acceptable at the 3* level? Also, at the 3*, is Chelsea acceptable?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Life_Is_Good Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 Correct I haven't bid at the 3* yet. Chelsea is fine, I can do Downtown for a 4* hotel. Thank you again for this help.
thereuare Posted June 14, 2010 Report Posted June 14, 2010 What do you prefer... do you want to bid for a 4* (including Downtown) up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 3*... or do you prefer the least expensive 3* or better?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Life_Is_Good Posted June 15, 2010 Author Report Posted June 15, 2010 Honesty, at the point I don't care where the hotel is. As long as it is on the island south of the Park. If I have a better shot at 3* for under $200 then lets start there. But if you think there is a chance to get a 4* hotel under $200, then lets go that route. You are the expert. :)
thereuare Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Pricing has changed somewhat from earlier today, but i'd give it the 4* a shot anyway, but i'll supply both a 4* and 3.5* strategy so you can "get right into it" should the 4* be rejected, given you don't have too much time.At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones... at the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. At the 4* level i'm assuming that MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, Downtown and ESB are all acceptable, if so...Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and Downtown...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* ESB...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, Downtown and ESB...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200If the above is rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINEI'm assuming that the MTE, MTW, ESB, TS, MSG, Downtown zones are all acceptable at the 3.5* level (i'm leaving off CPS since you previously commented that you wished to avoid the Hudson... but am including MTE since it appears you had bid that zone previously)...Select 3.5* MTE, MTW, ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS, MSG, Downtown...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS, MTW, ESB...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, MSG, Downtown...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, MSG, ESB...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS, MTW, Downtown...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, MTW, Downtown...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS, MSG, ESB...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $185, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, MTW, Downtown, TS, MSG, and ESB...Bid $190, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $193, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $198, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $200Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
