jackmash Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 I am planning a vacation for the middle of march and had a couple of questions if anyone can help me:1. March 9th I need a hotel on the Granda Bahama Island. I know priceline sometimes offers the Westin (which is what I prefer) or the Sheraton. What is the recommended bid for a resort and what am I likely to end off with? 2. Does anyone know if there is any other boat that goes to the Island other than the Discovery just for 1 night? (my husband hates flying)3. I am going to be in Miami for 11 and 12th any way to guarantee the Eden Roc - with priceline or hotwire?I am going with my husband, baby and 2 year old is there anything I should be aware of?
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! The first think you should be aware of is that Priceline only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel. So if you want to go with Priceline you'll have to accept the risk that you don't have a room with 2 beds (unless you were intending on bidding for 2 rooms, at which point this is a moot point).Let us know if you are willing/able to accept this condition and we'll proceed with a strategy for your stay in the Bahamas.Nothing with Priceline or Hotwire is ever guaranteed, but if you want to proceed with your options for Miami please start new threads for each of those stays. jackmash Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 I've done it before, once we got upgraded to a suite and the last time we actually got quite a small room with one bed so we folded the bedspread up and my daughter slept on that and my baby slept in his carraige, it was clean, pretty, and cozy - was fun!!Yes, I know the risk.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Both the Sheraton and the Westin are sold-out for these nites... i think your chance of success is currenlty very slim. jackmash Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 I know this is a stupid question but before I throw the towel in...!I was typing to fast and put in the wrong date Tuesday, March 8 instead of the 9th. I got the Westin at our Lucaya for $157 +taxes. I know it says non transferable but is there anything I can do?
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 You can try writing them to let them know of your mistake. In the past they were a bit more forgiving about helping out users with such mistakes (as they do happen, as any frequent bidding can atest), but lately have been a bit less forgiving.Even if you don't have succcess with your first email, i would suggest sending a follow-up pleading your case again.Good Luck. jackmash Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 They agreed if I book for a different night or I can just loose $25 and the rest will be refunded. A lot better than loosing $157 + tax - Thanks!I tried priceline and hotwire they have nothing fo Wednesday or Thursday - must be with Spring break everything is completely booked. Thanks again for all your help.
