lovetotravel Posted February 27, 2005 Report Posted February 27, 2005 I love this site! Can't wait to try it. My family will be in las vegas 3/21-3/25. I'd love to stay at the Venetian. Can you help me bid? There is a 5* on Hotwire for $203, which I think is the Venetian. I'd like to get it for less. Any suggestions? Also, there are three of us traveling (2 adults and 1 two year old). I know priceline doesn't guarantee bedding for more than two, but it looks like all the rooms in the Venetian accomodate up to 4. Do you see any problems with us bidding for this hotel on Priceline? Thanks for your help!
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding! All rooms at the Venetian have a pull-out couch, but you could (likely) get one king bed (rather than 2 beds) in the room... would this be ok?Are you willing to bid as high as HOTWIRE's price? If not, how high are you willing to bid? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lovetotravel Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 A king bed would be fine. I'd like to get a crib, but could bring a portable one if needed. I'd like to spend no more than $175 (but hope to get it for less!).Thanks.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Last question(s) before a strategy... do you understand RE-BIDDING?If unsuccessful for the 4 nites, are you willing to SPLIT YOUR BID? lovetotravel Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 I've read how to rebid and I think I understand how to do it. I just looked at all the zones in las vegas and the only one with a 5* is the las vegas strip vicinity, so I should have numerous rebids.Regarding splitting bids I have a couple of questions. First, would there be any problem at check in if I had two different reservations? Second, researching the 4 nights we'll be there, the first two nights are much more expensive than the last two. I'm guessing this means the hotel is fuller. If we split the bids and bid the first two nights first, do we stand a better chance of being able to stay at the Venetian the whole time? I'm willing to split the bids, but would rather not have to change rooms.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 In most situations you don't have to change rooms... but you often have to go to the front desk on 'switch day' and have them check you out/in.With rates so different throughout your stay, i think it is best to split this bid from the start, so that you don't end up overpaying for the last 2 nites of your stay.Although the second part of your stay should be easier than the first part, the risk is if you can only get accepted for part of your stay and therefore have to switch properties. lovetotravel Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 Thanks. I'm willing to try splitting the bid.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 Well, here's your situation...I think the first two nites of yoru stay are going to take close to or in excess of $200, but the last two nites will likely take perhaps a little more than $100.Not sure if you'd want to secure the second half stay first so that you know it's locked in on the cheap.. or if you'd rather book the first half of the stay first to know just how much the expensive nites are going to cost you, and then assume that you can get the balance of the stay for less (and wihtout a problem). If going for the first half of the stay first... how high rare you willing to bid? (since this price should be different then the 4 nites together, since it is only for the more expensive nites)... and you thought this was going to be easy :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lovetotravel Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 I would like the total for the 4 nights to be under 700. I am not sure the best way to split it up. If I went 225 for the first two nights then I would need the second two at 125. I am not really sure the best way to try to do it.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2005 Report Posted February 28, 2005 My approach and your approach may be different since i would be willing to change hotels if necessary.I would bid the low priced rooms first so that i know how high i could go for the remaining higher prices nites. The risk in doing this is that i would be successful in the first two nites, but then unsuccessful for the other two nites, and would have to find a less expensive property to stay at for the balance of my stay. This may not be the best strategy for yourself if you're absolutely unwilling to change properties during your stay.Let us know what you decide and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. lovetotravel Posted February 28, 2005 Author Report Posted February 28, 2005 I just checked the venetian website for our nights. It shows $299 on 3/21, $199 on 3/22, $149 for 3/23, 3/24 for a total just under $800.I'd like to try bidding the first two nights first because we really don't want to change hotels and worst case we can get the last two nights for $149.We'd bid up to $225 for each of the first two nights and $149 the last two. Can you suggest a strategy?
