I was trying to get a room for 6/19-6/20, or 6/19-6/21 in Chicago. After trying bids starting at $84 for a 3 1/2 star Michigan Ave area up to $109 for a 4 star and adding Lincoln Park, and getting nothing, I waited 24 hours and tried again, raising by $5-$10. I finally got a 4 star at $112 for two nights, starting 6/19. I was pretty disappointed to have it be the Westin Michigan Avenue at that price. I know it is a busy weekend and prices are high, but for $112, I thought perhaps the Drake, Knickerbocker or the Westin River North. :)

I wish there was a way to bid on a suites only hotel, that would be a great addition to PRICELINE options!!

Congratulations on your success!

While this may have been more than you originally wanted to pay, or expected a different hotel for the money, as you point out rates are date specific... and this is a substantially discount from a traditionally booked room at this property for these nites. While this property may go for less at other times, for these dates i think it's a very good deal.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board.

This is a very good rate for this property on these dates, and Chicago hotels in general have been more expensive this Summer versus the last couple of Summers. I've stayed at this property before and while there were a couple of minor bumps (don't pay for the Michigan Ave. view....thankfully I didn't - and there were a couple of other minor issues), I thought this was otherwise a fine property in a solid location.

Enjoy your stay.

The Westin turned out to more than meet my somewhat low expectations. We were upgraded to a deluxe room with a King bed, from the traditional room with 2 doubles, probably because the Westin can more easily sell 2 bedded rooms. We asked for a suite, which they offered for another $200, not a bad offer. WE did not take it however. Our room was nice, overlooked the side street, really nice bathroom with a shower with really strong pressure. Nice touch giving you a large bottle of water each day, along with Starbucks for the coffeemaker, even with a Starbucks coffee kiosk in the lobby. Small issues: room service cart left in hallway for over 12 hours, with food on it, yuck.

Also, wallpaper on the wall was rippled, and needed to be fixed. The location was ideal, and the Angels baseball team stayed there for their games with the Cubs. Very professional front desk service, despite our priceline rate. (Sometimes, we get a snooty attitude, but not here.) I would absolutely stay here again, really enjoyed it!
