Minnie81 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 My husband and I have tried endlessly bidding in the White House/Downtown as well as the Dupont area. The dates we are looking for are 10/9-10/13 (Sat-Wed) between 3.5* - 4*. We've gone all the way up to $125 (above our budget) with NO LUCK! We saw in the calendar at different times of the year as well as same time last year, the Mayflower for about $100 (which is what were hoping for). Getting a little frustrated here! Help? :)
AaronJB Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Sorry to hear that your bids have not been accepted. :)Rates do look a little high overall for these dates, but HOTWIRE does have a 4* in the White House/Capitol Hill area for these dates for $139 w/Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, which I'm guessing is the Hyatt. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
Minnie81 Posted June 16, 2010 Author Report Posted June 16, 2010 Still no luck, using the links on here. We have "come down" to a 3* and are hoping get something under $100. I can't help but wonder if 4 months out is too early.
Romelle Posted June 16, 2010 Report Posted June 16, 2010 Minnie81 - why don't you make a back-up cancelable reservation, and then you can calmly and regularly continue your bidding up until the last minute? One really never knows when hotels will give their rooms to PRICELINE. At the 4* level there are several "free rebid" areas, so you could use maybe weekly bid the first area you like at $x, add the second area you like at $x + increment of choice. If that doesn't work, you could keep bidding, adding another free rebid area each time and increasing your bid, up to your max budget. By using an approach like this, if PRICELINE has just added some new inventory, you get it at the lowest possible level. Of course you could bid more often than weekly, but that keeps it from being too frustrating handling all that rejection.RomelleDo check the areas each time to make sure they still are "free rebid" areas. And of course there are less of them at the 3 1/2* level.
