ami Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 I'm a Priceline newbie. I've been researching hotels for the last few days on other travel sites and finally decided to try priceline. I had no real preference, MTW, MTS, MTE, CPS, but my fiance wanted to stay in Times Square so we'd be able in the center of the tourist action. I found a great hotel in Murray Hill for $179 per night and was ready to take that, but I wanted to try for the Times Square. So I took the great advice on this site and started bidding. And kept bidding, and bidding...I got to $170 for MTW, part of me figured it was hopeless, so I threw in CPS for $175. It was rejected, but then I got a message saying that I can rebid if I raise it by $25. I'm sure that all of you are screaming "no!!", but I accepted and rebid at $200 (what was I thinking????)Anyways, my bid was accepted at $200 and it's the Drake hotel. Don't know too much about it, but right now I'm disappointed (it's my own fault for being so careless). On Expedia it's a 3 1/2 star hotel, seems a little dated, and most importantly, we're going to have to take cabs everywhere anyways, I should have just gone with the Murray Hill hotel. I would have saved money too (it's also closer to Penn station where I'm coming in).Just wanted to share my experience if it'll help other bidders out there.
