FOEDOGG Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Started bidding at $50 (MP-L-GP), declined. Started bidding again @ $55 on River North only, declined. Re-bid @ $60 w/MP-L-GP added, denied.Free re-bid @ $65 w/Franklin Park added, denied again. Final bid @ $70 after adding Hyde Park, accepted Palmer House Hilton. I've never stayed here, but by the reviews of small but nice rooms, it sounds a bit like the Hilton Netherland Plaza in Cincinnati (a charming, well-kept hotel in a historic building as well) so I'm looking forward to it. Would have preferred the Hyatt Regency, but I'm in the heart of Chi-town, so I think my PL gamble will turn out just fine :) The Palmer House Hilton17 East Monroe StreetChicago, IL 60603312-726-7500 Check-In: 03:00 PM Check-Out: 11:00 AM Summary of Charges Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $70.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $70.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $18.16 (USD) Total Room Cost: $88.16 (USD) Man's Chief Purpose Is To Live, Not To Exist - Jack London
AaronJB Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 Congratulations on your success. :)Excellent deal for this historic property! The Palmer lobby (which can be seen in a picture in this Wikipedia page for the hotel) is particularly magnificent. This hotel is also nearby a few different CTA stations, as well as a short distance from the Art Institute and Millennium Park.Thank you for sharing your result with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
