I'm newbie here.

I plan to my trip to new york on 6/14 to 6/16, and to stay in a at least 3* hotel in the areas such as MTE, MTW, EST, TS, MSG.

I tried to bid for a 3* or plus hotel for several days, yet, with no luck. Basically, I ranged my bidding price from 110-150 for a 3.5* hotel and from 100-129 for 3* hotel. Since no success for 10+ days, I wonder whether my price should be adjusted.

These days, I usually noticed that there were success bids with unexpected lower price for 3.5* or 4* hotel. A common point for these deals is that they were almost bids "in last minute". I still wonder whether it will be a good strategy to try such last minute bid. Or I should reserve a hotel as a backuip?

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Rates for these dates are very high and based upon current prices i don't think you're bidding high enough... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels?

I only used hotwire and priceline for my hotel search. So, now the lowest price there for a 3* hotel is 186/per night, in ESB area. The rates from the priceline are also high for the hotels with high customer rating, almost all above $180/per night, even for a 2* hotel.

My max acceptable price for a 3* hotel is $150/night, pre tax and fees. I saw several negetive remarks on a 2* or less hotel, so I do know whether it is too risky when bidding a 2* hotel.

I usually advise against the lower star rated hotels in NYC... while there may be some which will suit your needs just fine, as your finding out, there may be some which do not, and with PRICELINE you don't get to choose which type you will get :)

Do you want to try bidding up to $150 for a 3* hotel? Is there a reason you're avoiding the CPS and/or Chelsea zones? (NOTE: in the CPS zone the Hudson Hotel has notoriously small rooms... otherwise it's a very nice hotel, but you need to be prepared and set your expectations for this property if you choose to include this zone in your bidding)

Hi, I am here to report my result for my bidding. Yesterday, I saw a 3.5* hotel on HOTWIRE, Central Park area, at a price of $159 per night. So, I just tried to bid a 3.5* hotel up to 159 through PRICELINE, yet still no success. So, I just jumpped to the HOTWIRE deal. It turns out to be Bentley Hotel, a little bit far from the City Center. I hope I could enjoy the stay there. Good luck to everyone.

Congratulations on your success. :)

Nice price for this Central Park property. Hopefully you can make the location work for your plans. I believe board moderator thereuare has recommended Ess-a-Bagel before, which is not too far from this hotel at 831 3rd Ave.

Can you confirm the amenity icons that were showing with this listing?

Thank you for sharing your result with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Enjoy your stay.
