soup Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 I see from the Hotwire Hotel List that there is one 4* hotel in the downtown area, though I think there may be two. And the map on PRICELINE is pretty well defined to be an area I want. What would be a reasonable bid and how strictly does the system stick the mishapen circles on the map?Much thanks.
thereuare Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 I see from the Hotwire Hotel List that there is one 4* hotel in the downtown area, though I think there may be two. There may be even more than two... as per the comments at the top of the hotel list, the lists only contain hotels reported to the board; there could always be others not yet known or a hotel previously reported to the board but upgraded since the last report. And the map on PRICELINE is pretty well defined to be an area I want... how strictly does the system stick the mishapen circles on the map?I'm not sure what you're asking here.As we wouldn't want to suggest a strategy which went higher then you were willing to pay, please let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. soup Posted June 7, 2010 Author Report Posted June 7, 2010 I'm not sure what you're asking here.On the PRICELINE page where you do the bidding they have a map, and the they draw a lasso around the region you seleced (i.e. Downtown). So I was asking how accurate that lasso is. Like, if there is a hotel that is right outside that lasso as drawn, will it be included? As we wouldn't want to suggest a strategy which went higher then you were willing to pay, please let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please click this PRICELINE link before replying. My ceiling would be $180 as that is what 3*'s are going for out right, but if I could get it below $150 (preferably even lower) that would be great.

thereuare Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 The hotel you receive will be within the boundaries of the map... is there a particular hotel you're familiar with which is just outside of the boundary which we can give our thoughts as to whether it's in/out of the zone? Also, as your topic title mentions a 4* hotel and your last post refers to 3*, did you want to try for a 4* first up to your limit, then try for a 3.5*, then try for a 3*... OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay?Let us know the above, as well as the actual dates of your stay, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board each time you access the respective site. soup Posted June 17, 2010 Author Report Posted June 17, 2010 I will be there starting July 2, departing July 6.Ideally, I would get a 4* for no more than $150, but would obviously prefer much lower. If that doesn't work I could go for a 3.5* topping out around $120.Thanks so much for the help.
thereuare Posted June 18, 2010 Report Posted June 18, 2010 At the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Downtown...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $95, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Downtown and re-bid zone5...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Downtown and re-bid zone6...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone5...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask.
