faithinhope Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 This is my first post here and I'm new to PRICELINE. I want to stay in the Don Valley area when we come into Toronto next week so we are close to the CNIB centre (our purpose for coming into the city). I am not really picky about where we stay although there is only one hotel listed in the hotel list and it looks like somewhere we would like to stay. I'm not sure what to start my bid at.Also, I know that PRICELINE only guarantees 2 adults. We are travelling with two children as well (ages 3 and 1). How likely is it that this will be a problem, and if it is a problem what could the hotel do when we get there? Thanks for help!~Alison
faithinhope Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 When I search for June 6-June 10 in the Don Valley area I come up with two hotels:First is 3.5* and offers:Fitness Center PoolRestaurantBusiness Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Second is 3* and offers:Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Any ideas on which hotels they likely are? I'm looking to get as close as possible to the CNIB Centre. The Don Valley Inn and Suites is close, but I'm not sure what else is in that area. Thanks!Alison
thereuare Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread... if you ultimately use HOTWIRE we'll move the entire thread to that section of the board. In regards to the double/quad occupancy issue on PRICELINE, in the most extreme cases the hotel could deny you a room, although i wouldn't expect that to happen with young children being the 3rd and 4th occupants in the room... but the hotel could give you a room with only one bed and/or charge extra for occupancy more than two. Ultimately it's a decision you need to decide if it's worth taking, and if the hotel isn't able, or willing, to accommodate your request for a room with 2 beds, would you be able to deal with the situation (i assume one of your children is likely still in a crib or Pak n Play, would you be comfortable having your 3 year old sleep on the floor with an extra blanket/sheets, couch that may be in the room, chairs put together, etc, etc)Using HOTWIRE you can overcome the occupancy as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy per room. So we can replicate the HOTWIRE offerings appearing on your search above, how many adults/children are you searching for to have these hotels appear? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
robteb Posted June 5, 2010 Report Posted June 5, 2010 The is a strange zone in that there are only 2 hotels that I can think of in the entire PRICELINE zone. The Don Valley Inn (formerly the Crowne Plaza), and the Best Western Roehampton on Mount Pleasant Road at Eglinton (which I don't believe has ever been reported as a win). The latter is actually a wee bit closer to the CNIB, and is a much better overall location, as there are many restaurants, good shopping, and an easy walk to the subway if you decide to go downtown at some point. The Don Valley Inn is quite isolated, and there is nothing within walking distance. There used to be a Holiday Inn at Eglinton and Leslie, but that no longer exists, so unless there is some small independent hotel that I can't think of at the moment, this is it for PRICELINE.As far as HOTWIRE Don Valley zone goes, the only possibility other than the three hotels listed on the Hotwire Hotel List is the Westin Prince, which is a beautiful hotel and would most probably would be a 4*. For some weird reason, the Best Western Roehampton is in the HOTWIRE Noth York- Vaughan zone, and If you need to be near the CNIB, I wouldn't take a chance on that, as it is a huge zone with many other possiblilities far from the CNIB. Again, the Don Valley zone is strange and I'm pretty sure these are the only 4 hotels (either reported or not) in the entire zone. Hope this helps!!
