Charles007 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 First time PRICELINE and Forum user, so I hope I get this right. We currently have the following reservation at the Affinia Dumont in New York City (but I will take any 4* in the ESB zone):Per Night:08/20/10 - 08/21/10: 1 Room(s), $21408/22/10: 1 Room(s), $198Total $626 (not including tax and fees)I would love to get a 4* (or better) through PRICELINE for $150 per night. I read the thread below about rates not coming down yet for the entire Manhattan area yet. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

Charles007 Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 Correct (that Sunday night is already less expensive, see above). FWIW, American Airlines is running a great promotion from California to New York $103 each way. Thanks for any help in getting my hotel for less.
thereuare Posted June 4, 2010 Report Posted June 4, 2010 Is ESB the only zone you're willing to accept? If so, at the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150If you're willing to include more zones you can simply add them on your first bid.Any questions feel free to ask.If you fall short i'll add some additional comments. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Charles007 Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 OK, I found a little extra time and went ahead with the above bidding strategy. At $150 per night, I got the following message:"Thank you for your patience. We're still looking for a hotel room at your price and should have an answer for you within 15 minutes. Click on the button below to get your answer. "I will let you know in 15 minutes.
Charles007 Posted June 4, 2010 Author Report Posted June 4, 2010 Darn! After 15 minutes, I got the following:"We're sorry, but we can't accept your offer of $150 for a hotel room in the New York City area. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number XXX-XXX"Talk about getting my hopes up! I guess I will just try again next week? Any other suggestions? Here's the final bid info (not sure if it's important for you):Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $150.00 Subtotal: $450.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $95.46 Total Charges: $545.46
