Hotwire Hotel: 4* Chicago (Mag Mile-Streeterville) Hard Rock Hotel

Looking for some help confirming hotels in Magnificent Mile / Streeterville area. Will be staying 3 nights 7/8 - 7/11, meeting up with an old friend for a few days of catching up, neither of us have visited Chicago before. We're in our 40's so think 'cigar bar and steakhouse' as opposed to 'dance club and strobe lights'. I'm driving so adjacent parking is a requirement. From what I can tell the Magnificent Mile - Streeterville area should meet our needs but feel free to offer other suggestions.

Hotwire has the following "Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville area" options which look interesting and fit the budget ($109 would be max):

4*, $109/night >>>I think this is either the Intercontinental or the Wyndham, either would be my first choice

Are you searching for more than 2 people in the room? When I search for 7/8-11 I'm seeing the same 3* (which would appear to be the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza), but a different 3.5* and 4* listing. Will you need 2 beds?

Using HOTWIRE link and selecting 2 rooms, 2 adults (I was only searching with 1 room before) it now seems the 4* is the Millennium Knickerbocker, I see a lot of other HOTWIRE users mentioning that hotel. Surprisingly choosing different number of rooms gives different results.

It's not uncommon to see different hotels offered when changing the number of rooms and/or the number of guests per room.

Does the Millennium Knickerbocker work for your plans?

Booked today using HOTWIRE link on this site, 2 rooms for 3 nights (7/8/2010 - 7/11/2010) @ $109/night, total with tax was $768.76 (or $384.38 per room).

Note that when I was initially searching hotwire I searched with the default one (1) room, then when I went to book and searched for 2 rooms the results on Hotwire were different. Good to know if you happen to be looking for more than one room, search with the number of rooms you plan to book because it apparently makes a difference.

A little surprised that this ended up being the Hard Rock as the area was definitely listed as Mag mile / Streeterville, it's on Michigan ave but the Hard Rock is South of the river and technically (from what I can tell) outside of the Streeterville area. But recent Tripadvisor ratings for this hotel seem pretty good so hopefully it will be a good stay.

Incidentally the best prices I can find elsewhere on the same dates are $152/night via Expedia and $179/night on the hotels own website.

Wish I had started using Hotwire years ago!

This is an excellent deal for the Hard Rock - glad you are pleased with the result. While it's a touch outside of the Mag Mile-Streeterville area, HOTWIRE's zone boundary for this area extends to just a little bit South of the River.

The Knickerbocker would have been listed in the NMA-Water Tower zone, and the Hard Rock has been previous reported in the Mag Mile-Streeterville zone with these amenities.

Feel free to ask for confirmation of the hotel you think you're about to receive before your next opaque purchase.
