Hello Everyone,

If possible please help me find a good 4 star hotel perferable with a nice pool for 4th july weekend. Friday 7/2 till Monday 7/5/10. We are not concerned with the casino, since i dont gamble but a nice pool to cool down from the heat would be nice.

I've also read the other forum posts before posting...

I will bid zone 1 with 80, then 85 for zone 2, then 90 for zone 3 using betterbidding.com's links.

Is this the correct procedure?

Is it possible to get mandalay for a decent price. Hoping to find a 4 star hotel for less than 100 dollars a night.

Thank you so much for you help,

This is an awesome forum!

Can you please provide the additional information requested in our reply to your Priceline Aruba thread.

For Las Vegas, with PRICELINE there is no way to to bid on a hotel "with a nice pool"... you'll need to be willing to accept any 4* hotel in the zone(s) that you select. Your other option would be to use HOTWIRE where you can take an educated guess as to the property being offered based upon the amenities shown before your purchase, thus having an educated guess how nice the pool area would be. The trade-off is that HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE.

Have you been to Vegas before? Would you consider staying Downtown where the Golden Nugget has re-done their pool area somewhat recently?

Would you like to stay in the North or South Strip zone?

Is it possible to get mandalay for a decent price
MB is currently rated 5* and located in the South zone.
Hoping to find a 4 star hotel for less than 100 dollars a night.
Is this before tax/fee/possible resort fee?

Actually the Mandalay Bay has never been reported to the board. THEhotel at Mandalay Bay is operated as a "hotel within a hotel" and is currently rated 5* by PRICELINE. However, even if it was previously reported to the board, with PRICELINE there is no way to target a specific property.

The Westin is located in a PRICELINE "strip" zone but is slightly off the strip... would this be an acceptable outcome?

Hehe wow... TheHotel at Mandalay BAY would be my dream hotel... since the kids would love to use the beach pool and facilities. Im sure on a holiday weekend it would be impossible to get at my price... oh wells its a recession =).

I would prefer the south strip, 100 dollars excluding the resort fee is fine. For this price are there a nice selection of hotels to choose from?

Are you refering to The Westin Casuarina Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Spa? I've mapped it its very close, Yes that is definately acceptable?

wow you guys are awesome!! thanks so much!!

Yes, i was referring to the Westin given it's slightly off-strip location.

You can see the hotels previously reported to the board in this zone in the Priceline Hotel List.

At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Strip South...

Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100

Any questions feel free to ask.

Hum... in having little luck with the Priceline Name Your Price bids below. Here's what i did:

Select 4* Strip South

Bid 90, add Strip North

Bid 95, add Strip West,

kicks me out from further bidding

Select 4* Strip North

Bid 90, add Strip South

Seems difficult to get a hotel for 100, perhaps im because in bidding for 2 rooms for our party of 4. Should i try bidding for 1 room instead of 2?

Do you recommend any 3 Star hotel below? ( to be honest some of them seem ghetto... like 3* Hooters or Bill Gamblin, not a place to take your girl i guess )... I would even love Hard Rock, RIO or Westin ( how do i get Westin for 100? It seems like a clean place )

Few comments...

Not sure why you're adding the zones you did above, but those are NOT your re-bid zones. Why did you add those zones?? If you're not sure of your re-bid zones please see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding.

The issue isn't that you're bidding for 2 rooms, it's that $100 isn't enough at the moment for a 4* hotel on the strip (nor in the zones that you selected) Your $100 limit may be enough for a 3* or 3.5*, but depending upon how flexible your budget is, i would consider trying for a 5* hotel where i think you might be able to land something between $110-$130 (HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the Vdara for $139/nite... it might be available for a little less via PRICELINE)

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there, but i would also re-iterate that you ask questions and understand re-bidding before bidding again.

Wow its quite interesting how 100 can get you a 4* Hotel using hotwire.

Here's what my search came up with:

Location: Near Strip East

Star rating: 4-star

Check-in date: Fri, Jul 2

Check-out date: Mon, Jul 5

Casino

Fitness Center

Pool(s)

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

High-speed Internet Access

Golf Nearby

Tennis Nearby

Spa Services

Can any one help me identify this hotel? Im guessing it must be either Hilton, Renaissance because it has a "tennis court near by"

Hotel rate per night: $84.00

Nights: 3

Rooms: 2

Subtotal: $504.00

Tax & fees: $65.42

Total price: $569.42

I've always though that price line was cheaper than HOTWIRE, perhaps im bidding PRICELINE incorrectly.

We just came back from THEHotel this week. Midweek rates = $100/night thru Priceline ($107/night if you book through Hotwire). And then there's the resort fees on top of that. :) :o Great hotel...but no way you're gettin' that over the weekend of July 4th (one would think). :)

Yeah, it's a nice place....as long as you don't mind slightly off Strip. Great place for families.

Best guess for the 4* property would be Hilton.

And i would like to add that Bill's is far from a ghetto. It's no big and fancy resort but a nice budgett option with far better location than Hilton. And when staying at Bill's you can use the excellent pool area at Flamingo since Bill's doesn't have a pool.

The Hilton is a decent hotel, although not really close to the action. Even something like the Rio (slightly off strip) is a nice hotel, with easy access to the strip by shuttle.

If the days are locked in and the budget pretty much dead set at $100, then you sort of just have to go with whatever you can find....or else wait til last minute and see if you can steal a better deal.

yeah i mapped it, about 3 miles walking from hilton... july in vegas will be 110 degrees, i will pass outbefore making it to the strip... man i am having doubts!

ok what is better? polo tower for 89 bucks or 4* hilton 3 miles away from the action...

same price! man ... do i have any other options??

The Hilton has a monorail stop so that could be a main source of transportation to/from the Strip (it's not 24/7 but operates until 2am weekdays/3am weekends)

I would consider bidding 5* on the Strip between $110-$130... as well as consider the 5* South Strip property for $144 on HOTWIRE (no Resort fee so that's a potential $15-$20 savings right there vs. if your $100 PRICELINE bid was accepted at a hotel with a $15-$20 resort fee)... not really that much more than you've already bid, you'd get a 5* experience on the strip, and it would likely be at a fairly new hotel. (as well, that rate is available when searching 2adults/2children so you don't need to worry about any extra charges for more than double occupancy)

If that price is non-negotiable for you, then....yeah, I'm not sure you can do much better.

The Polo Towers aren't the worst place you could go in Vegas. It's sandwiched right behind the MGM Grand and Planet Hollywood....so you definitely have places within walking distance to visit right on the Strip. It's just not going to give you a typical Vegas hotel experience. For that, I think the Hilton would be better.

If you can go a little more expensive, I think you may get better options on the Strip. But if you absolutely cannot....then I'm not sure what else you can do.

Is the Rio available that night for under $100? That's my favorite off-strip hotel...and I would definitely stay there before I would stay at the Hilton.
