The Super 8 wanted $75 night (no way) so I took a chance on bidding $40 on a 3* (highest available) and won it first try. The hotel, Renaissance Des Moines Savery was awesome! Two beds, 2 baths and just a great place for the money. It has free parking on the weekends and is across the street from the civic center. Also, there is free internet in the room, nice pool & fitness center as well, and the skywalk lets you walk to all the downtown attractions away from the weather. I did check trip advisor after winning the hotel & the reviews were mostly very good. It's the best kept secret in des moines IMO.
