Hi,

I'm looking for any tips for a 2.5 star or above hotel in midtown for this weekend. I have a budget of $150 per night, and having used PRICELINE many times previously with success I'm surprised that I can't snare a deal at this price level for a mid quality hotel, especially as I can find a 3 star or above hotel on HOTWIRE for a little more. Also my corporate travel agent can get a 3.5 star hotel for $180 per night, and they are usually considerably more expensive than PRICELINE.

Are there any tips to securing a hotel for the weekend. Getting a little concerned as the time is getting close, and I have been trying for weeks with no luck. Maybe its just super busy this weekend and I have to pony up the extra cash??

I am looking in all midtown areas on PRICELINE, and hesitant to go below 2.5 stars as I have read some bad reports about shared bathrooms & poor sanitation of the cheaper NY hotels. I'm not looking for anywhere special, just something clean, reasonably accessable at $150.

(I have been using the forum links to connect to PRICELINE)

Many thanks for tips.

2 nights, Fri and Sat nights. I am checking these areas:

- Hells kitchen

- Chelsea

- midtown east & west

- central park south

- madison sq

- times sq

The hotel for $180 is Flatotel.

I have noticed that hotels can be a little cheaper in SoHo/Financial district. Although not as interesting as mid town, its just a subway ride away so maybe a hotel in the financial district is the best option to save $$.

I scored the Radisson Lexington Hotel New York for $155, its a little more than I wanted to pay but it looks like a decent hotel and well located. Thanks for your help.

Congratulations on your success!

While a few dollars more than you originally wanted to spend, i think this location will work out better for you than Downtown and i think the 3* rating is a safer bet than the 2.5* you originally sought.

I'll also add that you're right around the corner from my often recommended breakfast spot of Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St)... has one of the best bagels in the city and makes for a relatively inexpensive breakfast among locals.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.
