rtguy Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Hello, I am looking for a room in Chicago for Sept. 23 for my gf and myself. I will be going to a concert at the United Center so would like to stay close to that area without spending a fortune. I saw on Priceline the Habitat Suites At Pres Towers for $125 for the night. It is less than 2 mi. away. It says it is a fully furnished apt.with full kitchen. I can't seem to find much info on it. Has anyone stayed there? pros, cons? Priceline says it is only a 1*? I don't really need a apt. but saw it and for the price and being close to where I am going thought if it is nice why not. Can I do better without getting far from where I am going? Should I wait till a bit closer to book? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)A few large/well-known condo buildings (see also MDA Apartments and the Fisher Building) in Chicago do rent out one or more of their rooms on services such as Orbitz. It appears that a couple of different companies own one or more apartments in this building. The price is also less than these units usually are on Orbitz.com These units seem as if they may be nicer or run better than the rest of the building, as the reviews of short-term renters of these particular units on tripadvisor are more positive than the reviews of long-term renters (which are mostly negative) in the PT complex.I would suggest taking public transit (preferably a taxi, but could also be a bus) to the concert, as the area around UC is iffy. The Presidential Towers is in the West Loop, but staying further East more in the middle of the Loop area would not be much further. HOTWIRE has what appears to be a possible match for the Hard Rock Hotel for $129, but you could also try bidding for a 4* on PRICELINE in the Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park area, as well. What would be your desired max budget for this stay? Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.
rtguy Posted May 31, 2010 Author Report Posted May 31, 2010 Ideally I would like to find one for as close to $100 as possible with a max of $150. Thank you for the response. I don't see the $129. Can you post a link?
AaronJB Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 If you would like to bid for the nearby Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area on PRICELINE, a bid of $110 for a 4* would have a moderate chance of being accepted, based upon the rates I'm seeing. There is also a 4* in the Mag Mile/Streeterville area on HOTWIRE w/bed choice, fitness, restaurant, internet and business for $129. There is a 4/5 tripadvisor rating on the detail page for this particular listing. Based upon the amenity set, this could be the Hyatt, Hard Rock, Westin, Swiss or Sheraton. However, I'd guess the Hard Rock would be the most likely of the bunch. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
rtguy Posted June 1, 2010 Author Report Posted June 1, 2010 I am only seeing a 4.5*for $152 and a 4* for $125. On the HOTWIRE link.
AaronJB Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Prices often vary slightly from user-to-user. The tripadvisor rating is showing as 4 out of 5 shaded towards the bottom of the detail page (click "continue" on the listing to go to the detail page.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
rtguy Posted June 25, 2010 Author Report Posted June 25, 2010 3.5* Chicago (Millennium-Loop-Grant Park) ?'sHello, I have been bidding a few weeks now for a room in the Loop area for sept 23. I started at $70 and have been going up to $85 with no luck. Today I saw one for $92. Is $92 probably the best I am going to find? Is there anyway to get a idea of what hotel it is? Thanks.
thereuare Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Was this hotel on HOTWIRE? If so, what are the amenities that HOTWIRE associates with this offering? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
rtguy Posted June 25, 2010 Author Report Posted June 25, 2010 No it was PRICELINE. Amenities are Remote Control TV with Premium Channels, Telephone with Voicemail,Radio Alarm Clock, iron and Ironing Board,Hairdryer,Room Service,Full Service Restaurant,24 Hour Front Desk, andBusiness Services. Thanks
thereuare Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 The amenities shown by PRICELINE are related to the star rating of the hotel, not the specific property... when you bid on PRICELINE there is no insight into the hotel you may received, it can be any hotel in the zone at the minimum star level you selected. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
