hotelpuppy Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Hi!I am new to this site... I need to book a hotel for June 25-27 in the Atlantic City/Absecon Area for an event. Wouldn't mind the Holiday Inn Express on White Horse Pike, but don't want to risk some of those other sketchy hotels around there! Would love to stay in Atlantic City. Saw some posts about the Chelsea, etc... and it looks nice - not sure the diff. btw the hotel and the annex, but I'm sure it's all OK?How would you recommend bidding for this hotel? Again, don't want a run down hotel, but do want to save some money (it is SO expensive to book there!!)Thanks in advance!!! :)
thereuare Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! With PRICELINE you can't bid on, or target, a specific property... you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. If you want a bit more insight into the hotel you may receive HOTWIRE may be a better, although slightly more expensive option, as you can often take an educated guess as to the hotel you may receive based upon the amenities shown before your purchase (or at least determine it's not a hotel you're trying to avoid, if for instance the hotel you are trying to avoid doesn't have a pool you can 'safely' purchase a HOTWIRE hotel which as a Pool icon as one of the listed amenities, and know it's not the hotel you don't want)What is your desired star rating and budget for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. hotelpuppy Posted May 30, 2010 Author Report Posted May 30, 2010 Hi,Thanks for the reply. I guess I would be comfortable in a minimum 2.5 star hotel for this stay. Do you know the 2.5 and 3 (and up) star hotels in the area on PRICELINE? My budget is really as low as possible.I'd prefer to go through PRICELINE as there is no hotel that I specifically want to avoid. Thanks for your advice!!!
AaronJB Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 The list of hotels that have been reported to the board in Atlantic City can be found at the Betterbidding Priceline Hotel List for NJ There may be other, unreported hotels, but that list provides the hotels that have been reported to the board.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 To confirm, you're willing to stay in either PRICELINE's Absecon or Atlantic City Area zones? So that we don't suggest a strategy which goes higher than you're willing to spend, please determine a maximum bid for this stay. Obviously you wouldn't want to go higher than the rate you're able to get at an acceptable hotel thru traditional booking channels, so please find your best deal outside of PRICELINE / HOTWIRE, and then let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. hotelpuppy Posted May 31, 2010 Author Report Posted May 31, 2010 Max bid for this stay I'd say is $100 a night with taxes and fees. And correct, we are willing to stay in Absecon and Atlantic City area - Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 31, 2010 Report Posted May 31, 2010 Did you want to set your minimum star rating at 3* or 2.5*? Are you willing to pay more to stay in Atlantic City vs. Absecon... or is your goal the least expensive hotel at the minimum star rating you choose?I've calculated your maximum bid amount at ~$80, is that correct? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. hotelpuppy Posted June 1, 2010 Author Report Posted June 1, 2010 2.5* is fine, and my goal is the least expensive hotel. Yes, around $80 would be my max bid. What do you think?
thereuare Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 At the 2.5* level you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 2.5* Atlantic City...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 2.5* Absecon...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 2.5* Atlantic City and Absecon...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. thereuare Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Neither of these properties have yet been reported to the board or identified, and with so many budget properties in this area i don't think we'll be able to offer much insight in these offerings. However, i'll point out that the 2.5* property also has a 2.5/5.0 Tripadvisor rating, which is not very good (nor is the only 45% recommended in customer reviews), and i wouldn't expect much from this property. I would sooner go with the 3*, or better yet, continue bidding higher via PRICELINE.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
