callyhuh Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 I was trying to locate a property close to a T station with cheap or free parking. I figured my best areas to attempt would be South Boston,Medford and Newton. Looking at HOTWIRE most of these properties commanded in the 120$ range so I was hoping to get inside 100$. I started with a 3* bid at Medford-Somerville for 65$-denied. It gave me a 19$ increase to rebid again. I chose to add South Boston to Medford and rebid for 70$-Denied.My strategy was to increase my bids 5$ and add in Fenway and a few others without 3*, which would be free bids until closer to 100 ,then add some downtown locations and/or 2* to the equation to increase number of properties to hopefully land one. I didn't have to as my 3rd bid was my final. I added N Cambridge/Arlington to Medford, South Boston and got the South Boston Courtyard Marriot for 75$ . I was estatic as this was one of a few I was really hoping to get. It is just blocks from the red T station with free parking and has had great reviews as far as the hotel was concerned. Biggest flaw was part of town and aesthetics of the area were deemed run down dreary and crime ridden. We plan on being on the go so location and free parking over rode those concerns and at 75$ thought it was a steal. It was 179/nite on Orbitz.I just want to thank everyone on this site. I have been reading and tracking for over a month now and this was my first bid on PRICELINE and this site has taught me an enormous amount. I look forward to more scores on PRICELINE in the future. Thanks Again!!!
